Job Title: Fitness Center Babysitter
Location: Neal Fitness Center
Reports To: Childcare Supervisor / Fitness Director
Wage: $13-$15 Hourly 

Job Summary:
The Neal Fitness Center Babysitter is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children while their parents or guardians participate in fitness activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of child development, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and ensure that children are well-cared for during their time in the childcare area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision & Safety:

    • Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.

    • Monitor children in the designated childcare area to prevent accidents or injuries.

    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for children.

    • Follow all safety protocols and emergency procedures as outlined by the fitness center.

  • Childcare Duties:

    • Engage children in age-appropriate activities, such as games, crafts, reading, and interactive play.

    • Maintain clear a timely communication with parents or guardians regarding diaper changes, change of clothes (if needed), or other childcare needs that may arise 

    • Handle any basic medical needs (e.g., applying bandages, providing first aid) when necessary and according to training.

  • Communication:

    • Maintain clear and professional communication with parents or guardians about their child's behavior, mood, or any incidents that may occur.

    • Ensure parents/guardians sign children in and out, and keep accurate records of attendance.

  • Child Development & Interaction:

    • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging atmosphere for children of varying ages and abilities.

    • Support children's emotional and social development by encouraging positive interactions with peers.

  • General Maintenance:

    • Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the childcare area, ensuring that toys and materials are sanitized regularly.

    • Report any maintenance or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:

    • Must be 18 or older OR 15 - 17 years old, and have a babysitting certification. 

    • Previous experience in childcare, babysitting, or a related field preferred.

    • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).

  • Skills & Abilities:

    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with children and parents.

    • Ability to multitask and manage various tasks in a fast-paced environment.

    • Patience, empathy, and the ability to handle stressful situations calmly.

    • Basic knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities.

  • Physical Requirements:

● Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time. 

● Must be able to squat or bend to communicate at youths’ level. 

● Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 10 pounds for short periods of time. 

● Must be able to participate in physical activities throughout the facility, on the property and/or on field trips. 

Work Environment:

  • Fitness center or gym environment with a designated childcare area.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Compensation:
 $13-$15/ hour based on experience
