JOB SUMMARY:

Produce high quality diagnostic images for the physicians of Southern Oregon Orthopedics, Inc. Apply casts and splints as needed under the direction of the treating physician.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Expose and deliver images as ordered by the physician.
  • Ensures radiation protection for the patients, co-workers, and self by following established procedures.
  • Performs safety checks on radiographic equipment and reports malfunctions to the appropriate person.
  • Maintain imaging exam rooms to ensure they remain clean and stocked.
  • Maintain safe operating conditions of imaging equipment.
  • Maintain established department policies and procedures, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards. 
  • Assist in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies to ensure that the facility meets all OSHA guidelines.
  • Apply and immobilize body parts using casting/splinting material as directed by the physician.
  • Perform other patient care duties as necessary including application of dressings.
  • Assist physicians with fracture reductions.
  • Respond to phone calls and messages and document such correspondence in EMR.
  • Assist nursing/clinical staff as needed, when time allows.
  • Attend required office meetings and participate in committees as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to: stand, walk, use hand and fingers, arms to reach or move patient, to talk and to hear. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently to lift or move up to 25 pounds. Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge:

Must have knowledge of anatomy and classification of fractures, and traction devices and applications. Minor surgery is sometimes performed in the case room, therefore instrumentation concepts and competency in sterile procedures is needed.

Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Excellent computer skills, experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, QuickBooks, and other programs as needed. 

Active listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking the time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

Education and Experience:

Satisfactory completion of a program that leads to certification by the ARRT and the acquisition of a current Oregon State License in a good standing.

One year experience or equivalent in cast and splint application.
