About this position
Description:
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for coordinating and processing outbound shipments of fresh packed produce from the packing shed and cold storage facilities. This position ensures accurate order fulfillment, proper temperature control compliance, and timely shipment of product while maintaining food safety and quality standards.
Requirements:
Shipping & Order Processing
- Prepare and verify shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, manifests, and customer paperwork.
- Confirm correct product variety, pack style, pallet configuration, and quantities before loading.
- Match shipment information to sales orders and customer specifications.
- Communicate daily with sales, production, quality control, and transportation departments.
Cold Storage Responsibilities
- Coordinate the movement of finished goods from packing lines into cold storage.
- Verify pallet tags, lot codes, and traceability information.
- Confirm product rotation (FIFO – First In, First Out).
- Coordinate loading times to minimize temperature exposure during dock staging.
Loading & Transportation
- Schedule carrier appointments and verify dock times.
- Ensure accurate pallet counts.
- Seal trailers and document seal numbers.
- Maintain communication with drivers regarding shipment requirements.
Inventory & Compliance
- Maintain accurate shipping logs and inventory records.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards (GMPs, HACCP, PrimusGFS, etc.).
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping office.
