Job Summary

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for managing the procurement of indirect materials, overseeing supplier onboarding processes, and supporting small business sourcing initiatives. This role requires a detail oriented, relationship-focused professional with strong knowledge of procurement practices and supplier management. The ideal candidate will drive cost effective sourcing, ensure compliance, and support continuous improvement within the supply chain.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Identify and source indirect materials and services, ensuring competitively priced, high quality procurement. 
  • Lead the supplier onboarding process, evaluating supplier capabilities and ensuring alignment with company requirements and compliance standards.
  • Develop and execute strategies to expand small business participation in the supply base in accordance with corporate and regulatory guidelines.
  • Source, negotiate, and manage supplier contracts, ensuring adherence to quality, delivery, and performance expectations.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to understand procurement requirements and support organizational needs.
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier communications.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships focused on continuous improvement, innovation, and value optimization.
  • Monitor market conditions, industry trends, and emerging opportunities to inform sourcing strategies and cost saving initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing reporting to the Procurement Manager regarding procurement activity, supplier performance, and cost reduction progress.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and procurement best practices.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records, including contracts, purchase orders, and supplier communication.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to the Procurement Manager on procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost-saving initiatives.

REQUIRED CAPABILITIES

  • U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance.
  • Proficient in MS Office tools: Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Critical thinking and analytical abilities with the capacity to be able to make sound decisions quickly.
  • Open to new ideas, take on new responsibilities, handle pressure, and adjust plans and priorities to changing needs.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders at all levels.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, focusing on indirect materials, supplier onboarding, and small business procurement.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to indirect materials.
