About this position

SUMMARY: Performs a variety of duties relating to the security of the facility’s buildings and grounds to prevent fire, vandalism, illegal entry, and to assure the personal safety of employees, patients, and visitors, Manages disruptive persons professionally with a minimum use of force, responds to fire/security alarm activations, assumes scene command in emergency situation; observes and reports safety hazards, gives direction and assistance to ECRMC clientele.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.                Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program and safety standards.

2.                  Periodically tours buildings and grounds for security inspections.

3.                  Reports any unusual conditions or malfunctioning equipment.

4.                  Contacts unauthorized people for validation of presence, redirects as necessary.

5.          Consistently demonstrates high level of professionalism, communication, and compassion with regard to human dignity. Model a high standard of conduct, honesty and integrity in all situations.

6.                  Detains, restrains, and arrests violators of law, and promptly transfers custody of offenders to law enforcement authorities.

7.                Participates in investigations; maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities.

8.                  Secures patient valuables or lost and found articles; maintains logs of items received.

9.                  Escorts personnel to and from parking lots or between buildings.

10.              Checks the exterior lighting and access routes to the emergency entrance.

11.              Controls parking and traffic flow; enforces parking regulations.

12.              Maintains physical fitness requirements.

13.            Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.

14.            Able to work various shifts throughout the 24-hour day, at any location of the District’s properties or events. Able work beyond scheduled work times in the event of emergency, disaster, or other extenuating circumstance.

20.  Attends hospital training, in and outside the organization, and applies knowledge to the job responsibilities on various regulatory and accreditation topics including compliance, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), patient rights, documentation and others.

21.  Consistently presents a neat and clean appearance in accordance with hospital grooming standards.

22.  Maintains and exhibits positive behavior, interaction and responses even under difficult conditions.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  

1.      Current Security Guard Permit issued by the State of California. 

2.      Current American Heart Association CPR card.
