About this position

 SUMMARY:

Responsibilities are to monitor, repair, perform, and record preventative maintenance on all HVAC, steam boilers, feed water, heat exchange and deionizer water systems. Additionally, support in building repairs including piping, pumps, and mixer drives. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitors daily operations to ensure systems function according to company standards and specifications
  • Disassembles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts
  • Monitors weekly chemical analysis results
  • Monitors, adjusts and repairs thermostats and zone control, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical components of HVAC facility to meet code requirements
  • Ensures that an adequate supply of repair and replacement parts and materials 
  • Performs predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance and general repairs on building systems including HVAC, steam boilers, feed water, heat exchange and deionizer water systems
  • Ability to perform building repairs including piping, pumps, and mixer drives
  • Maintain records of all equipment repairs

 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Must be a licensed City of Chicago Stationary Engineer (REQUIRED)
  • Experience operating and maintaining building systems such as steam boilers, HVAC systems, chillers, and other mechanical equipment
  • 5+ years of experience, or 2-year technical degree plus 3 years of industrial maintenance 
  • Pipefitting skills highly preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and preventative maintenance capabilities
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment and special tools.
  • Results-driven, proactive, and able to work effectively individually and within a team.
  • Must have strong analytical competency and excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate issues, opportunities, and risks.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, and crouching. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, and controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus. Lifting and moving of objects weighing at least 50 lbs.     $25.0 - $45.0 Hourly Wage
