POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Corporate Controller is responsible for leading Guardian’s corporate accounting operations, including financial reporting, consolidations, manufacturing accounting, internal controls, tax reporting & compliance, accounting policy, and general ledger accounting. Responsible for managing monthly close and meeting all deadlines.  Reporting directly to the CFO and based at Guardian’s Pasadena Headquarters, this role is a key member of the finance leadership team. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in US GAAP, strong leadership skills, and experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

    Prepare internal and external financial reports and coordinate activities with the CFO, other team leaders, and others as required 

    Coordinate with human resources to hire, train, and retain skilled staff

    Manage and participate in month-end closing, including consolidation of divisional results

    Evaluate, maintain, and improve accounting and internal control systems

Requirements

    Experienced in financial statement preparation and reporting

    Capable of developing/monitoring business performance metrics

    Service-oriented with team members, internal and external customers, and management

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Able to work independently and as part of a team

    Ability to manage multiple projects and communication channels simultaneously

    Ability to thrive in a dynamic, growing, and demanding environment

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business area, with minimum of 24 credit hours in accounting (strict requirement)

    5-plus years’ experience as Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting Manager, or similar supervisory/management role in a Controller organization

    Well-developed Problem Solving & Analytical skills

    Proven leader, accomplished in establishing relationships and motivating performance

    Experienced in ERP accounting systems and MS Office; Advanced Excel skills a must

    Preference will be given to currently-licensed CPA’s and candidates with public accounting experience

Position based in Houston with hybrid schedule to report to Pasadena office 3 days a week.
