Position Overview

The Security Manager is responsible for overseeing all security operations to ensure the safety and protection of employees, guests, property, and assets. This role manages security personnel, coordinates emergency procedures, enforces company policies, and implements strategies that maintain a secure and compliant environment. The position is classified as exempt and requires independent judgment, leadership, and decision-making.

  

Key Responsibilities

1. Security Operations Management

  • Oversee daily security operations across all assigned locations.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce security policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Monitor surveillance systems, access control, and incident reporting.

2. Leadership & Staff Supervision

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise security officers.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Provide ongoing coaching to ensure a high level of professionalism and readiness.

3. Risk Assessment & Incident Response

  • Identify potential security risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Lead responses to security incidents, emergencies, and critical situations.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports and follow up with corrective measures.

4. Compliance & Regulatory Requirements

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain relationships with law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency services.
  • Oversee audits, inspections, and evaluations of security protocols.

5. Training & Safety Programs

  • Coordinate safety drills, emergency preparedness, and workplace violence training.
  • Educate employees on security awareness and best practices.

6. Asset Protection

  • Safeguard company equipment, cash, intellectual property, and sensitive information.
  • Implement loss-prevention strategies and conduct internal investigations when needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of progressive security or military/law enforcement experience.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of security systems, incident management, and emergency procedures.
  • Excellent communication, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.

  

Working Conditions

  • Primarily on-site leadership position with both office and field responsibilities.
  • Frequent walking, standing, and physical response to emergency situations.
  • May require participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
