Position Description:

Are you a registered nurse with a passion for infection prevention and patient safety? Join our team as an Infection Control Nurse and take a proactive role in protecting the health of the individuals we serve, our staff, and the wider community. You’ll lead infection control initiatives, ensure compliance with accreditation standards, and collaborate with medical, nursing, administrative, and safety teams to deliver exceptional care.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop, maintain, and secure employee medical files including TB testing, immunizations, injury documentation, and fit testing.
  • Manage all aspects of the Infection Disease Program, including contact investigations and collaboration with local Health Departments.
  • Track infectious diseases (MRSA, Hepatitis, HIV, etc.) and ensure proper education, compliance, and physician notification.
  • Oversee TB screening and monthly prevalence reporting.
  • Provide ongoing staff education and training on infection prevention topics.
  • Identify infections, determine source (POA or facility-acquired), and implement action plans to reduce incidence.
  • Collaborate with security/safety teams on sanitation inspections, disaster preparedness, and outbreak control.
  • Recommend products and procedures for cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization.
  • Prepare agendas, reports, and guidance for the Infection Control Committee.
  • Contribute to policy development, emergency planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • What We’re Looking For

    Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school (preferred).
  • Certification in Infection Prevention (CIC) (preferred) or ability to obtain within two years of employment.
  • Experience:

  • Minimum three years of experience in nursing or infection prevention, preferably in a hospital setting (required).
  • Teaching experience, ability to implement and evaluate programs, and working knowledge of hospital asepsis, microbiology, epidemiology, and operational methods (required).
  • Experience as a nurse supervisor, manager, or charge nurse (preferred).
  • Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current RN license in the state of employment (required).
