What You’ll Do 

  • Transform an improving safety program to a work class safety program 
  • Champion overall safety responsibilities for the assigned region 
  • Promote safety as continuous improvement program and ensure employees are constantly committed to this process 
  • Maintains a strong shop floor presence, engage employees, promote improvement opportunities and forge relationships with employees at all levels 
  • Address specific employee concerns and questions. 
  • Coordinate, participate in, and maintain records for all mandatory and non[1]mandatory safety training. This will include any retraining required. 

Workers Compensation:

  • Medical treatment / drug screen for injured employee 
  • Notification to management. If employee is taken off site for medical treatment, ensure proper follow up
  • Review restrictions (if any) with Supervisor and Employee o Accident investigation report (Safety Portal)
  • Participate in Injury Review meetings 
  • Review Accident Investigation and Safety Alert with all employees. 
  • Monitor employee progress (Return to work) (days restricted/lost and release to full duty). Provide updates in the Safety Portal 

 Incident Investigation (non-injury): 

  • Drug screen 
  • Incident Investigation Report in Safety Portal 
  • Review with facility Management and Hourly Employees
  • Participate in Safety Committee meetings 
  • Participate in weekly Safety conference call 
  • Monitor progress of shop safety projects. 
  • Collect, track, and maintain Safety Observation records. 
  • Review and all shop inspections entered into DEC. Schedule repairs when  necessary. 
  • Maintain file of crane interference work permits. 
  • Review, update, and maintain JSAs 2 
  • Complete annual PPE certification and upload to JJ Keller 
  • Complete annual forklift observations and upload to JJ Keller 
  • Complete LOTO audits and upload to JJ Keller. (Minimum of annually.) 

Shop inspections: 

  • Daily walk through (Visual) 
  • Monthly (more detailed) inspection 
  • Quarterly lifting device inspection. (Contracted out, but records must be updated, reviewed and maintained.) 
  • Weekly eyewash / safety shower 
  • Every six months – Fall protection equipment 
  • Review and maintain SDS (HazCom) program 
  • New SDS review and labeling requirements 
  • Maintain SDSs in Total SDS program 
  • Shop labeling inspections. 
  • New employee safety orientations. 
  • Review shop specific policies annually and make changes where appropriate. (Ex. Emergency Action Plan, SPCC plans)
  • Maintain environmental records in Comply Assist program 
  • Maintain the days without lost time sign at the location 
  • Maintain other location signage (Ex. Pipe coding, PPE requirements, Danger areas, etc) 
  • Vehicle accident reporting 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management 

 

What You’ll Need 

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite/ Proficient in Excel/ PPT 

Other skills required: 

  • 1-3 years of overall professional experience in management and/or related discipline. 
  • Experience with development, management of safety systems across multiple locations o Project management skills required to keep projects on target 
  • Demonstrated success in implementing and complying with corporate policies. 
  • Demonstrated success in achieving results, using team driven philosophies. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supporting corporate interest among remote site locations. o Knowledge of federal/state/ local safety regulations 
  • Ability to communicate and exercise positive interpersonal skills. 
  • Lean experience is a plus 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license 3 
  • Must be able to travel 50%
