Solutions Architect

Best Equipment Co, Inc. Indianapolis, Indiana, United States

About this position

Company Overview:

Best Equipment is a family-owned and operated environmental equipment dealership headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. We provide premium equipment sales and service in industries such as garbage and recycling, sweeping, sewer, hydro excavation, and underground operations. Serving municipalities and contractors across Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Michigan. We pride ourselves on exceptional customer service, and our family values are at the heart of everything we do.

Summary of the Position

We are seeking a dynamic, force-multiplier professional to serve as our Solutions Architect. This individual will play a critical role in shaping how our Companies connect with customers, empower our teams, and drive business results. This role is both highly technical and deeply strategic: blending software process and design and architecture with business insight, training, and ultimately an exceptional experience for both customers and employees.

The ideal candidate is equally adept at assessing, designing, and executing scalable technology solutions that meet the needs of Best Equipment and Best Rents. They will translate complex business needs into practical technology solutions, recommend improvements that strengthen both team performance and customer satisfaction, and ensure our technologies are serving both external and internal requirements. This role is for a builder, not a vendor manager.

Key Responsibilities

Overall

  • Oversee and optimize business platforms, with Salesforce as the current primary system of record for GTM sales processes. This includes managing both integrated systems, Salesforce managed packages, or add-ons that require configuration, maintenance, and design.
  • Ensure all platforms are aligned to support business needs.
  • Manage security, permissions, integrations, and third-party vendor relationships.
  • Design, launch, and maintain software solutions that provide actionable insights for leadership and frontline teams.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key system enhancements and system questions across the organization.

Training, Rollout, & Adoption

  • Lead key system rollouts, updates, and feature launches with clear communication and user-friendly training.
  • Partner with business leaders to ensure our internal systems accountability, efficiency, and results.

Compliance and Impact

  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architectural diagrams and design specifications. Ensure solutions comply with industry standards and security protocols.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to improve our architectural practices continuously.
  • Continuously experiment with and integrate software tools to speed up internal workflows, prototyping solutions in-house rather than outsourcing.
  • Assess new technology fit within the existing environment.
  • Lead integration projects that reduce complexity, simplify workflows, and improve the customer and employee experience.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience (typically 5+ years) in software engineering and solution/enterprise architecture, with a track record of shaping and delivering modern technology solutions.
  • Strong Salesforce/CRM administration and design experience (Salesforce Administrator certification or equivalent preferred).
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into system design and enhancements with a focus on excellent user interface.
  • Experience managing data quality, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across teams.
  • A balance of technical expertise and people skills — able to listen, collaborate, and guide.
  • Curiosity to learn the business, understand customer needs, and anticipate opportunities for improvement.
