Role Description

The Human Resource Director will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategy.

 

Key duties and responsibilities, other duties may be assigned:


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Hires and trains new employees in the Human Resources department.
  • Supervises and manages the Human Resource departments assignments and priorities.
  • Assigns financial responsibilities in consultation with the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

General Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  • Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Develops and implements departmental budget.
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Human Resources as a HR Business Partner (Client-facing support, Talent Acquisition, Talent Development and HR Operations, etc.) with a minimum of 5 years leading or managing a HR Team in a relevant or similar type of business supporting manufacturing or similar operations regulated by the FDA and operates as a federal contractor 
  • Knowledge of human resources law, policies, and procedure  
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills 
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with employees, staff, and candidates 
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and work effectively in a demanding, fast paced environment 
  • Exceptional customer service and problem solving skills are required. The ability to communicate confidential information is also required 
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, including time management, required 
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.

Computer & Analytical Skills

  • Must be able to assemble facts from various areas, analyze data, and provide informed recommendations to management 
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, take charge of projects, and work effectively in a demanding, fast paced environment 
  • Must be excellent with technology, be able to present using a laptop computer, and be able demonstrate proficiency with MS Office package, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; as well as Outlook and Internet Explorer

Travel Requirements


  • This position requires 10-15% of your work time to be dedicated to business travel

 

Physical Requirements

  • Occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds
  • Frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands; and talk or hear
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually mild.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus
  • Interaction with x-ray devices; for this reason, strict safety and tracking programs are in place, requiring the utilization of dose monitoring equipment either full time or as necessitated by situation
