About this position

Position Summary

The Director of Business Development is responsible for driving company-wide growth for GastroMed through strategic provider relationships, referral development, market expansion, and alignment of marketing and outreach initiatives. This role owns the overall business development strategy and ensures consistent growth in patient volume across all GastroMed locations.

This leader will directly oversee provider relations and the Marketing function, including social media, website, and events, and partner closely with Executive Leadership to translate growth initiatives into measurable, sustainable results.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in healthcare business development, provider relations, or growth leadership preferred.
  • Proven success driving referral growth and market expansion within a multi-site medical group or healthcare organization.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to effectively engage physicians, administrators, and external partners.
  • Experience in specialty medicine (GI preferred).

 

Responsibilities

Growth & Strategy:

  • Develop and execute GastroMed’s business development strategy to drive sustained growth in patient volume through referrals and market presence across all locations. 
  • Deliver measurable year-over-year growth in new patient referrals and physician panel development, aligned with organizational capacity.
  • Identify and activate new growth opportunities, service line expansion, and strategic partnerships within the community. 
  • Own the physician ramp-up strategy ensuring newly onboarded and underutilized physicians reach targeted panel capacity within defined timelines.
  • Expand GastroMed’s market penetration in priority geographies through targeted outreach and partnership strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with the CFO and COO to identify providers and practices for acquisitions and identify locations for De Novo growth. 
  • Experience overseeing marketing functions and aligning them with business development strategy.
  • Familiarity with healthcare analytics, reporting tools, and performance dashboards.

 

 

Provider Relations & Referral Development:

  • Own the provider relations strategy across PCPs, specialists, medical centers, and health systems, with clear expectations for referral growth and engagement.
  • Own the provider relations strategy for GastroMed, including PCPs, specialists, medical centers, and health systems.
  • Build and sustain high-impact referral relationships that translate into consistent, trackable patient volume. 
  • Ensure consistent outreach, cadence, follow-up, and relationship management.  
  • Serve as an escalation point for provider relationship issues impacting referrals, access, or growth.

 

Leadership & Team Oversight:

  • Directly oversee the Marketing Manager and ensure alignment between marketing initiatives and business development priorities.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability to business development and marketing staff as the team scales.

 

Cross-Functional Alignment:

  • Work closely with Executive Leadership to align growth priorities with clinical capacity, physician availability, and strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Analytics to track referral trends, performance, and ROI on growth efforts and optimize allocation of outreach and marketing resources.
  • Partner with Operations and Scheduling to ensure access, capacity, and workflows support growth initiatives and referral promises.

 

Reporting & Executive Communication

  • Monitor growth-focused KPIs related to referral growth, including referral trends, physician ramp performance, market penetration, and partnership impact.
  • Translate growth data into clear insights and recommendations for partner and board-level discussions, highlighting progress, risks, and opportunities.
  • Proactively surface barriers to growth and present actionable solutions.
