Position Overview 

This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a portfolio of the Structured Finance and Leasing relations of Mitsubishi HC Capital America, Inc. (MHCA). Daily activities will be centered in the monitoring and management of the portfolio including the preparation of credit underwriting memos in support of amendments, modifications, and extensions of existing client facilities. Key areas of focus will be the management of credit risk, the monitoring of compliance, preparation of internal reporting, and the maintenance and monitoring of client and agent bank relationships. This position will collaborate closely with the underwriting team, Chief Credit Officer, and sales team to maintain acceptable credit loss exposure, provide superior customer service and client retention.

This position is required to possess a comprehensive understanding of and adhere to the system of internal controls associated with the fundamental duties and responsibilities of the role. This includes compliance with SOX and all other pertinent regulatory and compliance policies and requirements. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Have a clear understanding of Structured Finance’s credit policies and operational procedures.
  • Proactively identify adverse client trends and take necessary steps toward positive resolution and minimize credit loss exposure. Determine appropriate risk rating for each borrower while ensuring timely rating changes as needed.
  • Manage credit analysts and junior portfolio manager for this portfolio.
  • Prepare trend cards as needed and aid in the preparation and presentation of the quarterly portfolio reviews on a quarterly basis or more frequently as needed.
  • Perform the necessary due diligence in the preparation of credit underwritings in support of amendments, modifications, and extensions of existing clients.
  • Attend bank meetings in person or via teleconference as needed.
  • Coordinate with agent banks to confirm covenant and financial reporting is in accordance with loan document requirements. 
  • Understanding of multiple industry dynamics and how economic conditions impact credit quality and transaction structure.
  • Work with underwriters to ensure smooth transition of onboarding new business. 
  • Assist with the underwriting of new business as needed.

 

Responsibility and Decision-Making Authority: 

  • Credit assessment, structure, and transaction communication within company prepared guidelines.
  • Credit signature authority in accordance with established credit policy guidelines.
  • Control portfolio risk and mitigate loan loss to acceptable levels.

 

Qualifications/Competencies Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Experience with syndicated credits, ABL loan products, along with underwriting, structuring, and documentation requirements related to senior secured lending products.
  • A strong understanding of financial statements (audits, tax returns, accountant prepared statements, etc.) and their analysis.
  • Strong computer software skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Salesforce)
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Time Management: ability to organize and manage multiple priorities at once.
  • Team player with positive attitude who understands role and how it relates to overall company success factors and keeps commitment to others. 
  • Detail oriented. 

 

Education and Experience: 

  • BS in Accounting, Finance or Economics or equivalent experience
  • Experience with private credit transactions
  • Experience with private credit, syndicated credits, and portfolio management
  • Experience in Asset Based or Cash Flow Lending transactions
  • 10+ years minimum experience in commercial or ABL specific lending
  • Experience with renewable energy projects helpful

 

Licensing and Certification: 

  • N/A

 

Working Hours:  

  • Hours may vary and will require evening work depending on business needs; may require working more than 40 hours / week depending on business needs.
  • This is a hybrid position.

 

Travel:  

  • Occasional travel to MHCA headquarters, client visits, and industry conferences.

 

Physical Demands: 

  • Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment
  • Light lifting and carrying of supplies, files, etc.
  • Ability to speak to and hear customers and/or other employees via phone or in person.
  • Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move from one office location to another.

The position is (exempt) and the salary will be between $149000.00 and $164000.00 with an opportunity to earn (a discretionary annual bonus).

 

The salary range is determined and based on internal equity, market data/ranges, applicant's skills, prior relevant experience and education.
