About this position
Job purpose
Individual will be responsible for coordinating and supervising all Warehouse & Shipping activities at the Greenville plant. The Warehouse & Shipping Supervisor will also assist in orientation, training, scheduling of all A-Shift and B-Shift Shipping Employees.
Duties and responsibilities
- Organizes shipping and warehouse activities and aids in training of shipping and warehouse team and acts as main point of contact for direction and problem resolution
- Communicates with Inside Sales and/or Purchasing (possibly others) regarding any information about out or inbound shipments.
- Requests quotes, completes & files necessary shipping & warehouse paperwork
- Monitors inventory transactions, assists with cycle counts, investigates inaccuracies and develops activities to help maintain overall inventory accuracy.
- Reviews, closes and files paperwork for all production jobs prior to storage in warehouse or shipment to the customer.
- Helps maintain and order general consumable materials for shipment packaging and material storage.
- Adapts to and coordinates changing customer schedules or requirements.
- Helps organize material for production jobs and routes to appropriate departments.
- Maintains organization of all shipping documentation physically or electronically.
- Investigates and traces missing or lost shipments.
- Participate in cross functional teams for improvement of inter-departmental processes.
- Perform supervisory responsibilities including: interviewing & hiring, training, coaching & discipline, directing work, assessing performance, developing talent, motivating team members, maintaining positive work culture.
- Support and sustain lean manufacturing activities such as Standard Work, 5S, Kanban and other lean tools.
- Mindset of driving continuous improvements in areas such as reducing production lead times, facility organization and cleanliness and increased efficiencies.
- Strive to develop, foster and maintain a positive, challenging work environment that motivates different skill sets and cultures that yields idea generation and implementation
- Any other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Work experience:
- Experience in working with and in ERP Systems, preferred experience in SyteLine.
- Minimum 3-5 years prior shipping & receiving experience.
- Experience in a group leader role and/or prior supervisor experience is desired.
- Experience operating within AS9100 (preferred) or ISO systems.
- Experience with Import & Export Compliance and Automated Export System (AES)
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Working conditions
- May be exposed to industrial oils, toner, coolants, solvents, lubricants, adhesive and other chemicals. NOTE: All safety precautions will be used.
- Plant wide climate control and air conditioning
- Could work in areas with excessive noise. NOTE: Ear protection available.
- Will work in both a manufacturing environment and an office environment.
Physical requirements
- May be exposed to industrial oils, toner, coolants, solvents, lubricants, adhesive and other chemicals. NOTE: All safety precautions will be used.
- Requires intermittent periods of sitting, standing and walking
- Required to do repetitive work.
- Periodic lifting of materials and files of 40 pounds.
- Willing to work beyond normal hours when needed
