About this position

The Family Nurse Practitioner Resident is fully-employed in a 40 hour per week, 12-month program, providing intensive training to both the clinical complexity of family practice in the safety net setting, and training to a high performance, Patient Centered Medical Home model for primary care.   This program is specifically intended for new family nurse practitioners who are committed to developing careers as PCPs in the challenging setting of community health centers and other safety net settings.  The position includes a one-year employment commitment after completion of the program.   The program structure includes precepted primary care sessions, specialty rotations, mentored independent clinics, didactic sessions, quality improvement and leadership development.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

  • Provides medical services to patients, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention
  • Diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases
  • Safely prescribes pharmacologic treatments
  • Serves as health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant and patient advocate
  • Must have experience working with diverse population
  • Must be a critical thinker with the ability to problem solve
  • Must have excellent communication skills, including verbal and written

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is normally performed inside in a temperature-controlled environment.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be recent graduates (no more than 18 months) from an accredited Masters or DNP program, licensed (LA APRN) and credentialed (FNP-C) or license/credential-eligible as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bilingual candidates (Spanish-speaking) 

Commitment to practice as a primary care provider in a Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) or other safety net settings.
