Position Overview: The Line Cook is responsible for the preparation, execution, and plating of high-quality menu items during service. This role requires strong technical cooking skills, the ability to work cleanly and efficiently under pressure, and a commitment to delivering dishes that consistently meet the Club’s elevated standards.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute à la carte menu items with accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Prepare and cook meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and starches using proper culinary techniques including sautéing, grilling, broiling, roasting, and pan-searing.
  • Maintain strong timing and communication during service to ensure coordinated ticket execution.
  • Follow standardized recipes while maintaining high presentation and portion control standards.
  • Taste, evaluate, and adjust seasoning and preparation to meet quality expectations.
  • Set up, stock, and maintain assigned station for optimal efficiency and cleanliness.
  • Ensure proper food handling, storage, labeling, and rotation (FIFO).
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout service and complete thorough breakdown and sanitation at shift end.
  • Assist with banquet prep and special event execution as needed.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with chefs, team members, and service staff.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor reflecting the Glen Oaks Club standard of excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Culinary, Executive Chef, or Sous Chef.


Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of classical and contemporary cooking techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience working high-volume à la carte service.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knife skills and station management.
  • Excellent attention to detail in plating and presentation.
  • Ability to follow recipes while maintaining consistency and speed.
  • Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written).
  • Professional, team-oriented attitude.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.


Education/Experience: 

  •  Minimum 2–3 years of line cook experience, preferably in a private club, fine dining, or upscale restaurant environment.
  • Culinary school training preferred but not required.
  • Food Handler Certification preferred.

Salary Information

$20.00 - $22.00 Hourly Wage
