About this position
SUMMARY: The Furnace Operator is responsible for operating belt ovens and periodic furnaces to support the firing and processing of ceramic and microelectronic components. This role ensures proper loading, unloading, scheduling, and maintenance of furnace equipment while maintaining quality standards, safety compliance, and ISO-9001/2015 requirements in a manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Load assembled graphite fixtures into belt ovens.
- Unload assembled graphite fixtures from belt ovens.
- Operate manual pusher kilns and periodic cold wall furnaces.
- Load and unload ceramic product onto Molybdenum plates for firing in periodic kilns.
- Perform sandblast cleaning of kiln furniture (Molybdenum or Tungsten setter plates).
- Change oven profiles as directed by Production and Engineering.
- Manage furnace scheduling details across multiple furnace operations.
- Maintain kiln furniture in orderly and readily accessible fashion.
- Maintain proper housekeeping standards in the furnace-kiln area.
- Move fired product to appropriate inspection areas.
- Work within an ISO-9001/2015 quality environment.
- Read and follow written directions on process documents, work instructions, and test plans.
- Read and interpret simple drawings.
- Adhere to all company programs, practices, policies, and safety standards.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams.
- Perform preventive maintenance on furnaces as directed and within skill set.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to read and follow written work instructions and process documentation.
- Ability to read simple technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and quality focus.
- Basic understanding of electronic controllers, PLC’s and MMI devices
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Commitment to safety and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent/applicable vocational training.
- Minimum 6 months of manufacturing experience required.
- Ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in English required.
- Experience with BTU and Kiln furnaces is ideal.
