Description:
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Manage the organization’s general ledger accounting processes by recording all transactions, posting debits and credits.
- Balance and post daily revenue journal entries into accounting system, ensuring numbers are accurate and complete.
- Reconciliation and oversight of intercompany transactions to ensure accurate reporting.
- Communicating with other departments within the organization to investigate cash and sale discrepancies that would impact the financial statements.
- Complete timely reconciliations to assist in the month end close process.
- Back-up for the organization’s accounts receivable function, ensuring timely booking and depositing of payments and appropriate collections efforts.
- Under supervision of Director of Accounting, manage bi-weekly payroll process.
- Maintain the organization’s accounts payable process and complete weekly check runs.
- Provide support for external auditors and preparers of tax returns, including preparing information required for annual organizational audits.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant fiscal laws and regulations.
- Demonstrate leadership in fostering an organizational culture that values innovation, promotes inclusion, and inspires excellence in the work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience / Qualifications / Requirements:
- Robust understanding of financial and accounting practices. Within the non-profit sector is a plus.
- Demonstrated familiarity with general ledger accounting processes.
- Strong technical skills in Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Superior attention to detail.
- Exceptional judgment and trustworthiness.
- High integrity and ethical character; ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
- Ability to handle responsibility, work independently, and maintain good working relationships with clients and coworkers.
- Eagerness for solving problems and a commitment to accepting responsibility.
- Enthusiasm for working in an organization where change is frequent, structure is evolving, and flexibility, teamwork, and good humor are absolute necessities.
- 1-2 years of accounting experience is preferred.
Education: Completed or pursuing bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
