Job Summary:
As an Assistant Controller at Filtration Automation, you will play a pivotal role in the financial health and strategic growth of a global leader in food processing equipment. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial activities of the organization while working closely with the leadership team and all departments to drive company growth and initiatives. The Assistant Controller position is designed for a high-potential accounting professional. This role offers a clear path for advancement, reporting directly to the Division Controller with the intentional opportunity to grow into the Division Controller role.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements; provide insightful commentary on quarterly results and financial performance.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions, including Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and Cash Management.
- Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Support: Develop, maintain, and monitor labor and material cost standards; evaluate manufacturing performance against these standards to drive efficiency.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Provide documentation for annual budgets and prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly forecasts for sales and financial performance.
- Audit & Compliance: Coordinate local audit preparation for internal and external auditors; ensure strict compliance with US GAAP and Corporate directives.
- Strategic Support: Deliver ad-hoc reporting and accounting support to both local leadership and the corporate office.
- Systems Optimization: Leverage ERP systems to mine data and enhance system functionality to streamline financial processes.
- Performs other related duties/projects as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Education & Certifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Preferred: Master’s degree or CPA certification.
Professional Experience
- 5+ years of accounting, financial analysis, and reporting experience within a manufacturing environment.
- 3+ years of dedicated Cost Accounting experience.
- Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity over accounting functions.
- Deep familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the finance field.
Technical & Soft Skills
- Systems Literate: Advanced ERP experience (implementation or enhancement experience is a plus) and proficiency in data mining.
- Leadership: A strong sense of ownership and the ability to formulate and communicate independent thoughts on business strategy.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently or cross-functionally.
- Organization: Strong time management and analytical skills with a willingness to accept new responsibilities as the company scales.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
