Job Summary
The Field Service / Applications Engineer provides technical support for Koh Young inspection machines and systems. Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, training, and customer support. The role also supports pre-sales technical activities, product demonstrations, and sample testing for customers. This position requires frequent travel to customer sites and collaboration with internal teams and headquarters.
Key Responsibilities
Installation and Service
Plan and coordinate system installations, including site preparation and logistics.
Install Koh Young machines and systems and ensure successful customer acceptance.
Perform preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, system upgrades, and retrofits.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and process issues.
Technical Support
Provide technical support remotely and on-site for customers and partners.
Conduct machine audits, process assessments, and operational improvement recommendations.
Support testing and validation of new software features and system functions.
Maintain training and demo machines at Koh Young facilities.
Customer Training and Support
Train customers and colleagues on system operation, maintenance, programming, and best practices.
Conduct Level 1 and Level 2 training sessions at customer sites and company offices.
Monitor customer workflows and recommend improvements to maximize system performance.
Pre-Sales and Applications Support
Support sales teams with technical demonstrations, evaluations, and customer presentations.
Program customer sample boards for Koh Young inspection systems.
Generate and present detailed reports on sample testing results and system capabilities.
Assist with proposal preparation and technical consultations.
Reporting and Communication
Prepare installation, training, evaluation, demo, and expense reports according to company policies.
Maintain clear communication with customers, internal sales teams, and headquarters regarding progress, issues, and support requests.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, associate degree, or equivalent technical training.
2–4 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, robotics, PCB assembly, or related technical fields preferred.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Strong computer and networking skills; mechanical aptitude required.
Experience with 2D/3D AOI or SPI systems preferred.
Familiarity with Windows 10/11, Windows Server (Linux experience preferred).
Experience with relational databases such as MS SQL or MS Access preferred.
Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) in manufacturing environments preferred.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Excel (Pivot Tables), Word, and PowerPoint.
Travel Requirements
Approximately 75% travel required, both domestic and international.
Valid U.S. or Canadian passport required.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
Physical and Work Environment
Ability to work with computers frequently.
Ability to work in light industrial manufacturing environments, including exposure to noise and machinery.
Ability to occasionally lift and move heavy equipment safely.
