FDH Electronic is a franchised/authorized stocking and value-added assembly supplier of connectors, backshells, and interconnect accessories. We also manufacturer cable assemblies and wire harnesses. Founded in 1980, BTC has been designing and supplying interconnect solutions to the aerospace, military, medical, industrial, energy, and transportation industries for more than 35 years.
The Assembly Technician position will play a key role within a team that will work together to assemble our customer’s product. The ability to perform effectively in a manufacturing environment and in conjunction with meeting delivery schedules and customer requirements is critical to this position. This position will be based in Wake Forest, NC.
Responsibilities:
- Perform various tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies such as cables and harnesses.
- Production of wire harness and cable assemblies using hand and/or power tools, including specialized crimpers, drills, soldering tools, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, wire strippers, precision measuring instruments, etc.
- Work collaboratively with the Engineering team to correct and improve upon any documents related to the assembly process.
- Must be able to be trained and certified to IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC-A-610, J-Std-001.
- Routes and ties wires to form wire harnesses used in electrical equipment.
- Determine and identify materials needed and sequence of assembly.
- Ensure the wire harness meets our quality by testing the wires with a tester.
- Form wire harness by wrapping and tying wires together.
- Completing the assembly of the harness by color, length of the wire, and marking.
Basic Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience in the aerospace or electrical industry.
- High school degree or equivalent experience in the electronic industry.
- Able to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to read and comprehend procedures.
- Familiarity with assembly tools, processes, and terminology.
- Must understand proper crimping and stripping methods.
- Ability to distinguish colors is required.
- Technical knowledge of electronics and mechanical designs.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision.
- Understanding or experience with regulatory requirements and general safety.
- Self-motivated team player.
