About the Role:

The Network Associate Director of K-5 Math serves as an instructional and curricular leader for the network, creating and carrying out a vision for a rigorous education that supports the larger vision of Prospect 2030 - that 100% of students are college ready and graduate with an IB Diploma.

The AD of K-5 Math will manage the adoption of High Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) and lead the change management for the new curriculum K-5. The AD of K-5 Math will work to ensure alignment between the elementary and middle school math program and ensure that students are ready for an accelerated math track in 6th grade, putting them on a path to successfully pass the Algebra Regents in 8th grade. The AD of K-5 Math will work to strengthen math assessments to align with the curriculum and grade level standards, and monitor and respond to data from across our programs in grades K-5 and beyond to ensure students thrive. 

The Network Associate Director of K-5 Math is also responsible for our math curriculum implementation and outcomes across our K-5 classrooms. In this role, the AD sets priorities, upholds the vertical alignment of our coursework and curriculum, assessments, intervention, and content-specific pedagogy. The AD will support the founding of our new Windsor Terrace K-8 school ensuring that across the continuum, students are literate in STEM and prepared for IB level coursework once they get to the HS level.  In this role, the AD designs and facilitates network-wide professional development, content-focused learning walks, and coaches and develops instructional leaders on campus across our schools. They are also responsible for designing standards-aligned assessments and test preparation resources. This position reports directly to the Director of STEM on the Teaching & Learning Team.

Job Responsibilities:

Program design & improvement

  • Work with the Teaching & Learning Team and school-based stakeholders to develop and share a vision for instructional excellence in math to actively advocate for the implementation of the vision. 

  • Establish goals and prioritize initiatives, in collaboration with the members of the Teaching & Learning Team and principals, that push forward student achievement in STEM.

  • Lead a network-wide review of curriculum, standards and student performance data on a regular basis to ensure alignment and rigor and make necessary revisions.

  • Develop and update interim assessments, mock assessments, and gateway assessments in collaboration with other stakeholders.

  • Maintain up to date scope and sequences, instructional guidance, and tools for rigorous and engaging STEM instruction. 

Coach school-based leaders to improve their math programs

  • Articulate a vision for strong math instruction and implementation of HQIM

  • Diagnose the strengths and areas for growth of programs across the network and work with academic leaders and principals to create action plans for improvement and aligned support

  • Give feedback on professional development and/or classroom instruction

  • Develop, review, and/or revise assessments and curricular materials

  • Analyze the results of network assessments and help academic leaders and teachers use the data to establish goals and adjust instruction, as appropriate

Facilitating professional development and modeling great teaching

  • Design and facilitate professional development

  • Develop instructional leaders and teachers through coaching and differentiated support

  • Research and distill lessons learned and recommendations to school-based content teams

  • Curate the organization of online content resources to ensure school-based teams have access to the highest quality, most relevant materials to support their work

  • Facilitate the sharing of knowledge gained through meetings and observations across the network of schools

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or degree or higher in a related field, Education preferred

  • Classroom teaching or other relevant instructional experience

  • At least 3 years experience in an urban charter school

  • Current and valid New York State Teaching License preferred

  • Proven track record of academic success

  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with diverse groups of professionals across multiple departments and organizations to achieve unified, consistent practices

  • Experience coordinating and delivering professional development for a variety of internal and external stakeholders

  • Skilled multi-tasker and excellent time manager; ability to effectively achieve multiple goals and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strategic and critical thinker

  • Strong project-planning  experience

  • Exceptional written, oral, and visual communications skills

Employees at Prospect Schools are provided with a competitive salary. Our salaries are set through a lens of equity, and based on an individual’s skills, education, and years of experience relevant to the role. The salary range for this role is from $97,000-$101,911
