Groundskeeper

Reports to: Grounds Manager

FLSA:    Part Time (Non-Exempt)

 Position Summary: This is a year-round position for individuals who love to work outdoors and perform landscaping tasks. Groundskeepers will be responsible for keeping outdoor areas and business fronts clean, performing landscape maintenance, performing turf maintenance, and maintaining outdoor structures. Groundskeepers will also be responsible for planting new landscapes, assisting with apple orchard tasks, helping with snow removal, and other seasonal tasks.

 Duties & Responsibilities:

• Keeping campus free from litter
• Cleaning spills from walkways
• Maintaining water features
• Fall/Spring landscape cleanups
• Operating power equipment such as blowers, string trimmers, and chainsaws
• Mowing grass with push mower, riding mower/0 turn mower
• Trimming and edging turf grass areas
• Planting and maintaining ornamental plants
• Planting and maintaining trees
• Landscaping/hardscaping new and existing areas
• Applying pesticides including herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides
• Applying plant fertilizers
• Perform repairs and maintenance to outdoor structures including walking paths, nature trails, fences, and some minor repairs to building exteriors.
• Helping prune trees or pick fruit in the orchard
• Safe and cautious operation of a Gator Utility Vehicle 
• Help with snow removal in winter
• Assist with campus wide events

 Job Requirements:

• 1-2 years of landscaping experience preferred, but not required.
• Must have a desire to work and enjoy working outside
• Must be self-motivated, trustworthy, conscientious and work well alone/unassisted or with limited supervision and as well as part of a team unit.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to safely lift and carry equipment and loads frequently exceeding 50 pounds.
