About this position
The Master Data Program Manager is responsible for defining, governing, and maintaining high-quality master data across the organization, with a primary focus on SKU-level product, product category, component, customer, reporting, and pricing data, and more. This role standardizes, documents, and defines the “golden record” for critical data domains spanning Operations, Supply Chain, Product, IT, Marketing, and Finance. The role will create and guide decisions on SKU taxonomy, item creation standards, component categorization, product relationships, Bill of Materials (BOM) management, and end-to-end data lifecycle governance. This role will work closely with departmental stakeholders, analysts, and alongside IT to understand requirements, ensure consistent data structures, and maintain alignment across systems and disparate files, drawing on strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, product attributes, and component relationships to ensure data supports operational and business needs.

Role Responsibilities – this is a summary of responsibilities of this role for guidance and discussion of expectations but does not include every possible/related task the role is responsible to execute during the day-to-day activities
- Master Data Governance & Ownership
- Define and maintain standards for SKU, component, pricing, BOM, product, category, data and other key areas across the organization.
- Govern data quality, ensuring accurate attributes (Unit of Measure (UOM), dimensions, pricing, costing, compliance fields, category attributes, etc.).
- Implement classification structures (product families, categories, attributes) across multiple systems.
- Ensure alignment between ERP (Business Central), PLM, eCommerce, CRM, and internal reporting systems and files.
- Data Quality & Process Management
- Monitor, maintain, and continuously improve master data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Identify data quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions, cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Enforce structured workflows for data creation, updates, approvals, and retirements using ticketing and documentation processes.
- Maintain clear documentation, SOPs, and reference materials related to master data processes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Product, IT, Executive Leadership Team (ELT) & Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and Finance to gather data requirements and align on definitions and usage.
- Act as the subject matter expert for product and SKU data, supporting downstream functions such as manufacturing, planning, reporting, and distribution.

- Systems & Change Support
- Support system implementations, enhancements, and integrations that impact master data.
- Collaborate with IT and analysts to ensure data structures align with business and reporting needs.
- Participate in data cleanup, migration, and governance initiatives as required.
- Increased automation and reduction in manual reporting through partnerships with Systems Lead.
- Customer, Category, and Brand P&Ls created and refined with accuracy and timeliness.
- Insightful analysis that supports margin improvement, improved forecasting accuracy, and strategic

Main Interfaces
- Operations & Manufacturing - Collaborates on SKU setup, component structures, bills of materials, units of measure, and production related attributes to ensure master data supports manufacturing execution and planning, related attributes to ensure master data supports manufacturing execution and planning.
- Supply Chain & Procurement - Partners on item sourcing, vendor associations, lead times, inventory attributes, and lifecycle status to support purchasing, inventory management, and logistics processes.
- Product / Brand / R&D Teams - Works with product stakeholders to define product hierarchies, attributes, formulations or components, and changes throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring data accuracy from development through commercialization.
- IT & Systems Teams - Interfaces regularly with IT to support ERP configuration, data integrations, system enhancements, and issue resolution related to master data workflows and governance.
- Finance - Coordinates on pricing data, costing attributes, financial reporting requirements, and data controls to ensure consistency between operational and financial systems.
- Analytics & Reporting (as applicable) - Supports reporting and analytics teams by maintaining trusted, well structured master data that enables accurate downstream reporting and insights.
- Executive Leadership Team (ELT) & Senior Leadership Team (SLT) - Provides visibility into master data standards, governance decisions, and data quality impacts, supporting leadership understanding of how master data enables operational execution, scalability, and informed decision making.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in master data management, product data management, or a related operational data role.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing environments, product structures, components, and bills of materials.
- Experience working with ERP systems and structured master data processes.
- Demonstrated ability to document processes, follow defined workflows, and maintain high data accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage ongoing operational responsibilities.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across functional teams, understanding the importance of the role across the business.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting retail or downstream commercial functions, with understanding of how manufacturing data supports sales, distribution, and reporting.
- Familiarity with master data management (MDM) or product information management (PIM) platforms.
- Exposure to data governance frameworks, data quality initiatives, or compliance driven environments.
- Light technical skills, including comfort working with data tools, reporting outputs, or system integrations.
