Description:
Provides Counselor counseling/education to patients served by New Perspective Recovery.
Essential Job Functions
- Conducts and properly documents interviews, evaluations, assessments and formulates diagnostic impressions.
- Knowledge of addiction theory and evidence-based treatment models, along with the addictive disease model of alcohol and substance abuse.
- Knowledge, skill, ability to demonstrate competence and continuous improvement of all aspects of the position, including professional ethics and standards, company policies and procedures, case management and record-keeping and related duties and responsibilities.
- Provides treatment services; includes facilitating individual and group counseling, and supervises urine/saliva collection for toxicology testing.
- Establishes and maintains up-to-date and accurate client case records.
- Develops individualized treatment plans with client participation that includes skill building for independent living and referrals to other community-based services; also provides educational and resource information.
- Advocates for clients in obtaining all types of services to reinforce skills in problem-solving and long term planning; includes arranging for transportation and other aspects to assist in meeting treatment plan goals.
- Works as a team with other providers and assists in the continuing development and provision of the Company alcohol/substance abuse program.
- Assigns Counselor referrals to other Counselors and staffs complex cases with leadership.
- Tracks caseload data, conducts documentation review, and peer chart review at the direction of leadership.
- Will provide strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Requires occasional weekend and/or evening work.
- May require travel for training and meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in allied health and/or behavioral science or related, plus three (3) years paid experience in the alcohol/drug field, or high school diploma or GED and three (3) years of paid experience in counseling and five (5) years of experience in the drug/alcohol field.
- Minimum of two (2) years sobriety/clean time, if in recovery.
- Requires First Aid/CPR certification, or the ability to obtain within 3 months.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain insurance requirements to operate company vehicles.
- Must submit to and pass a reference and criminal background check.
- Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and intermittent drug/alcohol testing.
Salary Information
$25.00 - $32.00
