About This Role
As an ICU RN at NVRH, you’ll provide high‑acuity, comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring intensive monitoring and complex intervention. You will work with a broad patient population, delivering specialized, compassionate care during critical illness.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver High‑Quality Critical Care
Provide comprehensive ICU assessments, manage cardiac monitoring and hemodynamics, administer medications safely, perform IV/venipuncture skills, support airway and ventilator management, and respond rapidly to sepsis, shock, and other emergencies. - Promote Clinical Safety & Best Practices
Follow AACN and NVRH protocols; ensure accurate, timely EMR documentation; maintain safe operation of ICU equipment; uphold infection prevention standards; and contribute to quality and performance improvement initiatives. - Support Patient & Family Education
Offer clear, compassionate education from admission through discharge, guide families during high-stress situations, and collaborate on safe, effective discharge planning.
Collaborate, Lead & Mentor
Work closely with the interdisciplinary team, support new staff onboarding, foster a positive and professional work environment, and participate in meetings, initiatives, and cross-training efforts.
- Graduate of an approved RN School of Nursing
- Current Vermont RN license or multi-state compact RN license
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- ACLS required within 6 months of hire Completion of a critical care course within 1 year of hire
- PALS certification
- Critical Care or related specialty certification Experience in an ICU or high‑acuity clinical setting (new grads welcome to apply with interest in critical care)
