What you'll do
- Lead technical design reviews and gate approvals, ensuring compliance with project requirements and design standards
- Implement and maintain engineering change control processes; assess impacts and obtain necessary approvals
- Perform value engineering and lifecycle cost analyses to optimize capital and operating expenditures
- Develop and monitor KPIs for engineering performance (schedule adherence, quality metrics, resource utilization)
- Prepare and review technical specifications for procurement; evaluate vendor proposals and lead technical bid evaluations
- Manage vendor technical queries, support factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT), and oversee supplier quality assurance
- Support commissioning, start‑up and performance testing activities; provide on‑site technical supervision when required
- Conduct root cause analyses of technical failures and implement corrective/preventive actions and lessons learned
- Ensure designs consider manufacturability, maintainability and operability; coordinate with manufacturing and installation teams
- Champion HSE, sustainability and regulatory requirements within engineering deliverables and design decisions
- Mentor and develop engineering staff; oversee training plans and competency development
- Drive digitalization initiatives (standard CAD libraries, PLM/PDM usage, engineering automation) to improve efficiency
- Prepare and present technical reports and executive summaries for stakeholders and senior management
- Performs other duties as assigned
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred
- Technical, problem-solving, communication and leadership skills
- 7 plus years’ experience high preferred
- Experience with Continuous Casting is much preferred
- Ability to interact with our global engineering team
- Ability to interact with Project Management, Supply Chain, customers and suppliers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of engineering principles and procedures
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Leadership skills
- Excellent with 3D engineering software, Finite Element Analysis, Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
