DEPARTMENTOF COMMUNITY SERVICES – ASSISTANT CITY ENGINEER - CITY OF SUMMIT, UNIONCOUNTYThe City of Summit is seeking a full-time Assistant City Engineer. The responsibilities include but are not limited to development, design, construction, and execution of engineering/public works projects, from concept and specifications to inspections and project closeout. Responsible for City infrastructure repair/replacement; drawing and drafting; quality plan conformance; site plan and survey reviews; public bid tabulations; filing; complex engineering computations; plan copies; permit processing; conducting traffic studies/counts; heavy communications with regulatory agencies, utilities, contractors, and public. Knowledge of engineering methods, construction and maintenance materials and procedure, and related ordinances, laws and regulations. Represents City as needed at public and Council meetings. Detail-oriented, flexible, confidential, organized, and excellent communication skills. Proactive personality with superior interpersonal and customer service skills. Supervisory skills and ability to act in absence of City Engineer. Seeking highly motivated individual w/ proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD. GIS fluency, multi-tasking and project/time management skills essential. Civil engineering degree, NJ P.E. license, and valid driver's license required, with 3–5 years of experience preferred.
