The Finance Manager will help ensure financial transparency, accountability, and alignment with our core values, providing leadership with the insights needed for informed decision-making to support our mission.

We’re Looking for Someone Who:

  • Transition accounting duties from an outsourced firm to in-house management, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Oversee payroll processing for staff, ensuring accuracy, compliance with labor laws, and timely payment.
  • Manage payroll reporting (including tax filings, benefits deductions, and employee records) in coordination with HR and external providers as needed.
  • Review income and expense transactions for budget alignment and GAAP compliance, recording complex entries as needed.
  • Draft financial statements and prepare monthly financial reports with budget vs. actuals analysis for the board.
  • Reconcile inventory and sales tax, manage CA sales/use tax filings, and oversee credit card and expense management systems.
  • Train staff on expense coding, credit card usage, and receipt management to maintain financial integrity.
  • Ensure department accountability by following up on responses and corrections before final reports.
  • Manage banking relationships, including credit cards and remote deposit capture (RDC).
  • Coordinate the annual budget process and conduct cost analyses for strategic financial decision-making.
  • Oversee preschool bookkeeping, reconcile tuition systems, and administer QuickBooks Online and brokerage accounts.
  • Ensure effective internal controls, update financial policies, and maintain compliance with regulations.
  • Lead and support Finance Committee members, fostering strategic financial oversight and collaboration.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Associate's degree in business or accounting preferred; more years of relevant work experience may substitute.
  • 3+ years of management experience in Finance; ministry and/or nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Experience with payroll processing and related reporting requirements preferred.
  • Intermediate Excel and analytics software skills (experience with Solve preferred).
  • Experience with QuickBooks or similar general ledger software, Stripe, Square, and Brightwheel.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit GAAP accounting and reporting.
  • Excellent organization, time-management, and communication skills.
  • Team player with a "can-do" attitude and customer service skills.
  • Trustworthiness in handling confidential data.

Salary Range: $35/hr

Position Type: Part-Time to Full-Time
