Position Overview:


The Mechanical Technician II oversees the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of machinery, conveyors, and other equipment in commercial settings, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety. This role focuses on managing projects, leading team members, and fostering an efficient and collaborative work environment. With a strong focus on customer satisfaction, the Field Service Technician II assesses progress, resolves complex issues, and drives the successful execution of conveyance and mechanical projects while mentoring and developing team members.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Serve as the On-Site Project Lead for mid-scale and larger projects, demonstrating advanced technical skills.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the project team, ensuring project goals and timelines are met.
  • Collaborate with other team members and external contractors for successful project completion.
  • Utilize advanced mechanical skills to troubleshoot and repair complex machinery and systems.
  • Read and interpret intricate electrical and mechanical schematics and blueprints.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repair duties on a wide range of equipment.
  • Assist in the onboarding and training of new technicians, actively contributing during the first 90 days of their employment.
  • Evaluate candidates' skills during the hiring process to ensure a match with the existing team.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Communicate regularly with leadership and clients, providing updates on timelines and expectations.
  • Participate in maintaining the successful operation of material handling equipment at client sites.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities as a senior member of the team.
  • Act as a mentor for less experienced technicians, providing guidance and support.
  • Conduct assessments of projects at various stages of construction, reporting progress or setbacks to all invested parties.
  • Evaluate candidates' skills during the hiring process to ensure a strong fit with the existing team.
  • Contribute to the hiring decision-making process.
  • On-Site Project Lead: Lead mid-scale and larger projects, demonstrating advanced technical skills and ensuring successful execution.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance to project teams, ensuring project goals, safety standards, and timelines are met. Foster a positive work culture and take initiative in team development.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, external contractors, and clients to ensure smooth project execution, resolving issues promptly and aligning solutions with client needs.
  • Mechanical Troubleshooting & Repair: Use advanced mechanical skills to diagnose and repair complex equipment and systems across various industries. Mentor team members to enhance their technical abilities.
  • Blueprint & Schematic Interpretation: Read and interpret OEM spec sheets, installation guidelines, and electrical and mechanical schematics to facilitate accurate installations and repairs.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Training & Mentorship: Lead onboarding and training for new technicians, ensuring they understand company standards and technical requirements. Develop training materials for consistent knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Hiring Support: Assist in evaluating candidates' technical skills to ensure alignment with team needs.
  • Technical Support: Provide remote and on-site technical assistance to field teams across both East and West Coasts.
  • Project Management: Oversee project scope, resource allocation, and timelines, ensuring deliverables are met on schedule and within budget. Optimize team performance by implementing efficient work practices.
  • Equipment & Asset Management: Ensure proper use and maintenance of company assets, including vehicles, tools, and storage areas, through regular inspections and updates.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate project records, including notes, photos, and documentation in Service Fusion, Paylocity, and expense platforms. Uphold OSHA and company safety requirements in all operations.
  • Client Relations: Communicate regularly with leadership and clients, providing updates on project progress and identifying opportunities for system enhancements.


Job Duties:

  • Oversee the use of company systems, tools, and software to effectively support business operations, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of projects at various stages, proactively identifying risks or setbacks, and providing detailed progress updates to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Safeguard sensitive company, client, and colleague information by implementing and reinforcing confidentiality best practices within the team.
  • Uphold financial stewardship by managing company funds, vehicles, tools, and assets with a focus on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
  • Lead by example in adhering to and enforcing client workplace expectations, including site access procedures, dress codes, and safety standards, ensuring the team consistently delivers a professional image.
  • Advanced Technical Skills: Expertise in troubleshooting and repairing complex machinery, with strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.

Requirements


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mechanical or Trade Technician, or other relevant experience.
  • Technical skills in troubleshooting and repairing complex machinery.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations with the ability to enforce compliance.
  • Maintain current OSHA safety certifications and any additional certifications required for the role, ensuring compliance with all applicable safety standards and regulations.
  • Proficient in computer applications (Google Suite, Service Fusion, Paylocity, Expensify, Excel, etc.).
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to pass a background screening and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds independently, including lifting overhead as required.
  • Must stand and walk on hard surfaces for up to 12 consecutive hours.
  • Must bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for prolonged periods to access work areas.

Work Environment:

  • Must work at elevated heights up to 50 feet using aerial lifts, boom lifts, scaffolding, and ladders while wearing fall protection.
  • Must access and work in confined spaces with entry points as small as 3 feet by 3 feet, following safety protocols.
  • Must work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment, with exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and potential hazards.
  • Must operate a motor vehicle for extended periods, including during early morning or late evening hours, as required.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods, including, but not limited to, hard hats, safety harnesses, gloves, safety goggles, and steel-toe boots, as dictated by job tasks and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work in various commercial settings and be on-call when needed.
  • Ability to work at various hours of the day or night based on the customer's needs.
  • This role requires up to 100% travel, frequently between cities by plane and/or car.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including extreme weather conditions, elevated workspaces, and confined areas.
