Airframe and Powerplant Instructor

Thrust Institute of Maintenance (TIM) is seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Instructor to join our esteemed faculty team. As an A&P Instructor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of aviation by imparting your expertise and passion for aircraft maintenance to aspiring professionals.

Requirements:
  • Interacting with students to provide opportunities to learn, creating conditions that facilitate learning, and using techniques and methods that create a high probability that learning will occur.
  • Instructional Delivery: Providing clear communication of information and promoting learning through an effective learning environment.
  • Instructional Design: Designing, sequencing, implementing, and presenting experiences which promote student learning, and designing, developing, and implementing tools, technologies, and procedures for assessing student-learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments of learning for students.
  • Provide effective and high-quality instruction of subject being taught.
  • Apply learning-centered educational practices such as creating and communicating clearly-defined outcomes for student learning.
  • Provide a diverse array of learning activities that directly tie to those defined outcomes.
  • Use assessment data to improve instruction and learning, and participate in an ongoing Campus-Wide dialogue about teaching and learning.
  • Develop and refine department curriculum as necessary to maintain currency in pedagogy and content
  • Adopt new teaching methodologies as appropriate.
  • Implement department, division, and/or institutional goals as assigned.
  • Maintain office hours, turn in grades on time, meet assigned classes.
  • Submits course syllabi and other required documents on time.
  • Manages the classroom facility.
  • Keeps accurate attendance and grade records.
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of proven Aviation Maintenance experience, to include any combination of General Aviation, Part 121, Part 135, or Part 145 Experience.
  • Shall qualify for a full-time, post-secondary vocational credential in Aviation issued by Aims Community College CTE Office. Contact Landon Loyd for the application at landon.loyd@aims.edu. This will require at least two (2) years (4,000 hours) of approved experience in Aviation. The preference is 8,000 – 10,000 hours of work experience or a combination of work and teaching experience.
  • Hold a current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate.
  • Computer literacy and the ability to use computer technology in classroom/lab instruction.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Maintenance or another related field.
  • Private Pilot’s License or higher with Current 3rd Class Medical or BasicMED.
  • Inspection Authorization with Previous General Aviation Experience.
  • A demonstrated aptitude for developing course content and teaching in varied modalities: online, synchronous remote, traditional face-to-face, and blended (hybrid) versions of each.
