About this position
The Commercial Driver is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely delivery and pickup of plumbing and HVAC supplies to customer locations, vendors, and other J. Lorber branches throughout the greater Philadelphia area.
Requirements
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Safely operate company vehicles in compliance with traffic laws, load regulations, and company policies.
- Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections, and maintain safety/compliance logs.
- Load and unload materials carefully to prevent damage.
- Verify all deliveries against manifests, obtain customer signatures, and document deliveries (including photographs when required).
- Handle COD deliveries, collecting proper payments as noted on delivery paperwork.
- Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and team members.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned vehicle.
- Return keys, mobile devices, fuel receipts, and paperwork at the end of each shift.
Certificates & Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license (CDL B a plus)
- Current DOT medical card
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing
- Forklift certification (recommended but not required)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and occasionally move up to 100 lbs
- Climb in and out of trucks and operate pallet jacks (up to 300 lbs)
- Stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
- Work in varied indoor/outdoor environments, including docks and warehouse facilities
Work Environment:
You’ll spend most of your time in a well-maintained truck cab and on delivery routes. Some loading/unloading may be required outdoors or in warehouse environments. Occasional exposure to weather elements, heat/cold, and warehouse vibrations should be expected.
