I. BASIC FUNCTION:


Responsible for providing comprehensive health care to individuals and their families in collaboration with a physician 

and the health care team.

III. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Provides comprehensive, individual health care including client counseling and teaching, referral and follow-up 

in accordance with Center protocols. 

2. Consults with the physician for specified treatments and medications not described in Center protocols. 

3. Provides direction for the oversight of medical assistant and nurse training and quality assurance for teamwork

of medical assistants and nurses with women’s health providers. 

4. Responsible for the oversight on handling of and training for all women’s health medical procedural equipment.

5. Responsible for supervisory counseling and problem-solving of the working relationship between women’s 

health medical assistants and their providers and women’s health nurses and their providers.

6. Acts as a resource to the OB/Women’s Health Team to support the coordination of Centering Pregnancy

activities at all FCHC sites. 

7. Provides direction of the programs related to contraception counseling and methods provided.

8. Maintains the awareness of women’s health patient care needs to all providers at FCCC & FPSE ensuring 

quality indicators are being measured and goals achieved in women’s health (example CVRs).

9. Attends Team Leader Meetings, when necessary and by invitation. 

10 Performs and interprets diagnostic and screening tests as appropriate. 

11. Consults with staff members regarding the comprehensive health care of clients and their families.

12. Refers clients to other Center staff members and/or community resources as necessary.

13. Develops, implements, and evaluates educational programs concerning prevention and family health 

promotion for clients and community by invitation.

14. Develops and maintains appropriate policies, protocols, records, reports and statistical data relevant to 

services provided by invitation.

15. Ensures that protocols developed with Center physicians are current and adequate for nurse practitioner 

practices by invitation. 

16. Participates in staff inservice programs related to comprehensive health care by invitation. 

17. Precepts nurse practitioner students from Nurse Practitioner Programs with which the Center has an affiliation 

agreement. Responsible for the orientation and evaluation/review process for these students.

IV. PERIODIC DUTIES:


1. Participates in Health Center staff problem solving groups.

2. Attends and participates in department meetings, etc. as assigned.

3. Performs other duties as assigned.


V. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:


Inside Health Center: All inclusive.

Outside Health Center: Patients/Clients, students, vendors, community health agencies, hospitals, insurance 

companies, Medicare, Medicaid, physician offices, institutions of learning, etc. 


VI. QUALIFICATIONS:


1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school of nursing required. 

2. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Missouri and in good standing.

3. Master’s Degree in Family and/or Adult Nursing and/or Women’s Health preferred.

4. Certified or eligible for certification as a Family and/or Adult and/or Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.

5. One plus (1+) years of practice as a Family and/or Adult and/or Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner preferred.

6. One plus (1+) years supervisory or management skills preferred.


VII. PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS:


1. Active professional development as demonstrated through attendance of seminars, continued education 

programs, etc. is strongly encouraged.

2. Current membership and active participation in American Nurses. Association is encouraged.

VIII. CONTINUED EDUCATION:


Satisfactory maintenance of continuing education standards as established by the Missouri Nurses Association is

required.
