About this position
Position Summary
The Production Supervisor leads daily assembly operations to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale (SQDCM) objectives. This role maintains constant floor presence, drives real-time performance management, and owns departmental results. The Supervisor is accountable for schedule attainment, labor efficiency, first-pass yield, safety compliance, and team development.
This is a hands-on leadership role — not a desk position.

Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
• Enforce all safety policies and conduct daily safety observations.
• Lead weekly toolbox talks and ensure new hires receive safety training.
• Immediately report and document accidents in partnership with HR.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant production environment.
Daily Production Leadership
• Lead 6:00 AM production meeting covering SQDCM metrics.
• Communicate daily build plan, staffing assignments, and overtime requirements.
• Manage by Walking Around (MBWA) hourly at minimum.
• Monitor productivity, standard times, and units per hour in real time.
• Ensure =90% value-added engagement during observation.
• Identify bottlenecks and take immediate corrective action.
• Update schedules and submit end-of-day performance report.
Labor & Performance Management
• Take daily headcount and manage attendance.
• Balance line assignments to support flow and equalized workload.
• Control labor hours and prevent overruns.
• Provide real-time coaching and recognition.
• Issue formal discipline when standards are not met.
• Participate in hiring and termination decisions.
• Develop and cross-train team members.
Quality Ownership
• Reinforce that quality is the responsibility of Production.
• Monitor First Pass Yield (FPY), rejects, and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with work instructions and inspection documentation.
• Maintain full accountability and traceability.
• Review outgoing product for quality compliance.
Continuous Improvement & Issue Resolution
• Maintain active department issue board (“Who is doing What by When”).
• Escalate only after attempting internal resolution.
• Lead first-time builds and high-risk projects with structured planning.
• Apply Lean principles to eliminate waste and improve flow.
5S & Asset Control
• Enforce housekeeping standards at all times.
• Audit and secure tools daily.
• Monitor shop supply usage and prevent abuse.

Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of supervisory experience in assembly manufacturing.
- Experience leading 10–25 direct reports.
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles.
- Proven ability to coach, discipline, and drive accountability.
- Strong floor leadership presence and decision-making ability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean / Six Sigma certification.
- Experience in high-mix, build-to-order environments.
- ERP system experience.
- Bilingual – English & Spanish preferred.
