POSITION OBJECTIVE 

The Material Handler is responsible to ensure materials, tools and supplies are staged to support efficient press operation.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.  

  • Supply Raw materials – Tyvek, Plastic, DT 
  • Supply Ink 
  • Supply tape 
  • Supply dies  
  • Supply and maintain aniliox 
  • Supply mounted plates 
  • Maintain supplies – consumables, routes requests from operators 
  • Press Wash Up when needed  
  • Supply Boxes, bags, cartons 
  • Ensures materials are staged properly and orderly to each press throughout the day
  • Ensures supply of tape is maintained
  • Monitors press material needs and setup requirements throughout the day, responds accordingly to ensure efficient production
  • Stages scheduled tools
  • Stages Scheduled anilox 
    • Ensures anilox are washed and stored properly
  • Maintains proper stocking level of consumables for each press
  • Remove finished product to next staging area
  • Return unused raw materials to racks or warehouse
  • Stocks and replenishes boxes, bags and cartons
  • Monitors press support lights for each press, responds accordingly
  • Report problems with order fulfillment, equipment/machinery, quality, process and materials to Production Managers and/or Maintenance Staff
  • Follow safety regulations and facility guidelines
  • Maintain cleanliness of your work area
  • Daily clock in/out for shift and/or applicable breaks
  • Maintain good standing with company attendance policy and physically attend all shifts when scheduled; this position is not eligible for remote capabilities
  • Report all accidents directly to Human Resources and follow all safety and hazard communication procedures
  • Perform all other duties as directed by management

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

Documentation, reporting, organization, mechanical aptitude, listening and verbal/written communication, multi-tasking, dependability and emotional control. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and regular attendance. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Previous experience in printing environment is preferred. 
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to complete time report and production reports. Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. 
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to count, number sequencing, add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, hands or feet; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouch or crawl. 

 

WORKING ENNIRONMENT 

Production environment, which will include constant noise throughout the day. Certain areas of production will require PPE of either hearing and/or eye protection. Environment will include odors and minor variances in temperatures. Production environment requires closed toe shoes, be conscious of work being performed and stay in walking paths whenever possible outside of assigned areas. All individuals must walk with their head up in all areas of the building, parking lot and grounds being conscious of moving vehicles, forklifts, and other potential hazards.

The Material Handler has complete authority to carry out all of the above responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures, however without management approval he/she may not: 

 

  • Enter in any short or long-term contracts on the behalf of the company
  • Make any charitable contributions on the behalf of the company
  • Change, alter or disregard company policies or procedures
