About this position
Sunshine Disposal & Recycling has an opening for a full-time Tractor Trailer Driver and backup roll off truck driver in our Spokane Valley, WA business unit. This is a local, full-time position. Work week is Friday- Monday, 6:30am-5:00pm Driving is Intrastate and Interstate within Spokane/North Idaho region, no overnight travel. Starting Pay rate is $29.25, also subject to wage bumps of fifty (50) cents per hour at 6, 12 and 18 months of employment. COLA increases begin in 2027. Job duties include operation of tractor trailer units and Moffett forklift. Position will also include cross training for operation of roll-off style refuse truck. Some OJT provided. Class A CDL, No Air Brake Restrictions, manual transmission endorsement and valid USDOT medical card are required. Successful candidate will have a minimum of one (1) year Class A commercial driving experience and must meet insurability requirements. All CDL drivers are subject to USDOT/FMCSA drug and alcohol testing regulations.

Sunshine Disposal & Recycling operates a modern fleet of vehicles. Our fleet uses driver-friendly onboard computers (tablet style), GPS technology and latest vehicle camera technology- outward and cab facing.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential duties/responsibilities listed below.
- Arrives to work on time and receives paperwork and/or tablet for daily trips. Performs Pre-trip inspection of the truck and trailer to make sure everything is operating correctly, maintenance is not necessary, and all equipment/systems are safe to operate. Completes DVIR form in accordance with state, local, and federal regulations.
- Drives truck to provided stops to load and unload trailer. Uses Moffett forklift to load commodities onto flatbed.
- Backs empty trailers into loading pit. Retrieves trailers from loading pit when full.
- Completes required forms for record of load to office and to transport company and/or landfill as required for each load.
- When assigned, tarps full trailer. Drives tractor and trailer load to processing site for unloading. Untarps at processing facility prior to unloading.
- Performs vehicle and trailer post trip after route is completed and driver has returned to terminal for the day, completes post-trip DVIR and lets the Site Supervisor know of any maintenance areas necessary.
- Hooks up new trailer or new truck to carry out duties in the case that current tractor is not operating efficiently and needs attention by the Maintenance shop.
- Completes a daily log of all trips made on the road.
- Attends all necessary meetings including all safety meetings and other meetings scheduled by the company.
- Performs special projects for the Site Supervisor and other management team members.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

Physical Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to:
· Constantly(6 hours or more per day) sit, stand, walk, grasp, reach, fine finger manipulation
· Occasionally (1-3 hours per day) climb, lift(up to 60 pounds), pull/push, stoop/crouch, crawl carry, and reach above head and at shoulder level.
· Clearly see 20+ feet, with or without corrective lenses and differentiate between colors.
