Position Summary
The Personal Care Attendant/Home Care Aide provides personal care attendant and homemaker services to Home Care clients. This position supports clients with daily living activities while promoting safety, dignity, and independence. The role reports to Office Directors and Human Resources.
Performance Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist with bathing and showering (sponge bath, bed bath, or shower)
- Provide oral hygiene, skin care, and foot care (including nail filing as needed)
- Turn and reposition clients to prevent bed sores
- Assist with grooming, including hair care and shaving
- Provide toileting and incontinence care
- Transfer clients safely (bed, chair, wheelchair, shower, vehicle)
- Assist with dressing and undressing
- Support ambulation and mobility
- Provide medication reminders (non-administration)
- Use equipment and supplies safely
- Monitor, observe, and encourage range-of-motion exercises
- Report changes in client condition to Supervisor
- Document care provided per agency requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Essential Qualifications
- Currently registered as a Home Care Aide (HCA) in the State of California
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Valid California driver’s license
- Valid auto insurance in employee’s name
- Reliable personal vehicle
- Clean driving record/MVR
- Ability to complete orientation and state-required training
- Ability to communicate effectively and remain calm under stress
- Successful completion of background check and Live Scan
- Negative TB test results at time of hire
- Ability to use basic technology for clocking in/out and viewing care plans
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, move, and transfer clients safely and perform physical tasks associated with personal care services.
