Job Summary: Maintains and repairs physical structures of buildings, mechanical equipment, etc.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepares reports and forms and documents. Enter data in the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Maintains confidentiality but reports significant events or situations immediately through approved channels to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff, and to ensure that required reporting occurs, and that students receive emergency services as needed.
- Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to students in the event of injury, illness, or emotional trauma.
- Follows all required safety protocols including the appropriate use of PPE
- Performs necessary highly skilled work in one or more areas of plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, and other skill trade areas as needed.
- Performs carpentry work in repairing or replacing doors, windows, walls, flooring, roofing, painting and any other work pertaining to wood structures.
- Performs plumbing, heating, and air-conditioning work in repairing or replacing furnaces, duct work, air conditioners, piping instrument controls, and preventative maintenance on systems. Repairs or replaces wash basins, toilet, and any other work pertaining to heating, air-conditioning, and plumbing facilities.
- Performs electrical work in repairing and replacing fluorescent fixtures, control switches, disconnecting wiring and any other work pertaining to electrical facilities.
- Performs minor construction such as building storage bins, stockroom shelves, counters, work benches, etc.
- Uses precision hand tools and power tools.
- May transport students by bus and automobile.
- May drive trucks and other vehicles.
- Directs the work activities of general maintenance personnel.
- May assists in relocation of center property.
- Consults with Maintenance/Logistics Manager in the preparation of specifications for construction and modification work.
- Reads and works from blueprint specifications.
- Makes periodic inspections of center mechanical equipment; adjusts and services them as necessary.
- Notifies supervisor concerning safety issues and the need for major repairs, etc.
- Occasionally provides interior and exterior center janitorial, building maintenance and ground keeping assignments according to work orders.
- Establishes and maintains records relating to periodic maintenance / preventative maintenance of center mechanical equipment.
- May operate trucks and other center vehicles, including PIV (Powered Industrial Vehicles)
- Attends required staff training sessions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum: High school graduate or equivalent. Two years’ experience in the field of building maintenance that includes electrical, plumbing, carpentry work, and heating/air conditioning.
Preferred: Certificate of completion from building trades training program or apprenticeship program. Extensive experience in the building trades.
Knowledge: Ability to obtain a State driver’s and CDL license. Knowledge of building construction and maintenance, plumbing, electrical, heating, air conditioning, etc. Obtain CPR and 1st aid Certification Ability to operate hand and power tools.
