Quality Continuous Improvement Engineer 


Location: Greenville, Michigan

Reports to: Quality Manager


Middleby Refrigeration is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our team in Greenville, MI. This role supports key quality and operational improvement activities across manufacturing and customer-facing processes, including analysis of quality data, identification of process inefficiencies, root cause investigation, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.


The Quality Continuous Improvement Engineer plays a critical role in driving operational excellence, improving product quality, and strengthening compliance with quality management systems. This position partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Customer Service to ensure sustainable improvements that reduce defects, improve efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction.

Expected Hours of Work: 


This position is full-time. The general scheduled workdays are Monday through Friday.


Quality Improvement Engineer Position Overview:

The Quality Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for driving quality improvement initiatives, reducing process variation, and improving overall operational performance. This role partners Operations, Engineering, and Leadership to identify root causes of quality issues and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions using continuous improvement methodologies.


Key Responsibilities:

  

· Lead and facilitate continuous improvement projects, utilizing methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other industry-standard tools to improve operational efficiency.

· Analyze production processes to identify areas for improvement, including waste reduction, process flow optimization, and cost-saving opportunities.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, production) to implement process improvements and ensure alignment with overall business goals.

· Use data analysis to monitor and evaluate the impact of continuous improvement initiatives, adjusting strategies as needed to achieve desired outcomes.

· Drive Value Stream Mapping (VSM), 5S, and Standard Work initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and quality.

· Conduct root cause analysis for process issues, and implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize downtime, defects, and other operational inefficiencies.

· Train and mentor plant personnel on continuous improvement methodologies and foster a culture of problem-solving and innovation within the plant.

· Coordinate with leadership to establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to continuous improvement projects.

· Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards while executing process changes.

· Provide technical support to various departments for process optimization and new product introductions.




Requirements


Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 2–5+ years of experience in quality engineering or continuous improvement
  • Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or similar CI methodologies
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive change
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or other quality standards
  • Sustained process improvements


Working Conditions: 

  • Office based and production based
  • 8-hour shifts
  • Monday- Friday
