Job Title: Class A CDL Driver

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt


Normal Shift / Working Hours: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday thru Friday. Overtime and weekends will be required as deemed necessary by departmental needs.


Job Summary: We are seeking a dependable and organized Class A truck driver who can consistently ensure safe and accurate deliveries. You must be detail-oriented, efficient, and have a clean driving record.


Duties / Responsibilities:

  1. Fully      understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned delivery vehicle
  2. Drive      trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
  3. Transport      goods from place of origin to assigned destination
  4. Pick-up      loads and organize goods in an ordered, logical manner
  5. Ensure      contents are properly secured inside of truck to prevent breakage or      damage
  6. Obtain      signatures to confirm and complete deliveries with clients
  7. Stay on      predetermined route and ensure timely deliveries
  8. Communicate      with dispatch as needed
  9. Confirm      contents of each shipment load matches the manifest document
  10. Perform      inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip
  11. Always      ensure your vehicle is kept clean
  12. Notify      managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered
  13. Follow      delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times
  14. Maintain      detailed driving and delivery logs
  15. Track and      report working hours
  16. Adhere to      company rules and regulations
  17. Obey all      applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions
  18. Comply with      ICC and DOT regulations
  19. Make safety      a priority at all times

Required Skills and Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  2. Valid Class A driver’s license required
  3. 2+ years proven experience with tractor-trailer driving preferred
  4. Clean driving record with no moving violations
  5. Must pass background check and drug test
  6. Skilled at driving large vehicles
  7. Comfortable maneuvering and parking a tractor-trailer
  8. Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
  9. Physically and mentally fit
  10. Proficient using GPS and other routing systems
  11. Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful
  12. Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and      regulations.
  13. Communication Proficiency.
  14. Organizational Skills.
  15. Time Management.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on job site. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.  


Physical Demands 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 40 hours per week, with overtime, based on your schedule for the week.


Required Education and Experience

  1. Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
  2. Pass pre-employment drug screen.
  3. Proven work experience as a Class A CDL driver.
