About this position
We are looking for a hands-on, mechanically inclined individual to install, repair, rebuild and maintain production equipment and general building services.
This position will report to our Assistant Plant Manager and will work Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 2:00 pm in our Glendale Heights, IL plant which is located at 1620 Fullerton Ct, Suite 400, Glendale Heights, IL 60139.

Job Description
Position Title: Maintenance Mechanic Department: As Assigned
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Effective Date: June 2019
Reports to: Plant Manager or Assistant Plant Manager
Position Summary: Independently perform all duties necessary to install, repair, rebuild and maintain production equipment, building, and services.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to demonstrate understanding of company documents such as safety rules, work instructions, etc.
Essential duties and responsibilities: Must be able to fulfill essential duties and responsibilities in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
- Adheres to company policies that create and maintain a safe workplace and follows departments housekeeping requirements.
- Diagnose problems of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic nature on all types of production equipment.
- Tear down, repair or replace defective parts and reassemble equipment to working condition.
- Understand and perform the Preventative Maintenance Program. Identify and report any maintenance issues on machines and equipment.
- Detect and report any improper operation, faulty equipment, defective material, or unusual conditions, which may affect plant safety, efficiency or security. Identify and report any equipment, operational or safety problems or material deficiencies.
- Using the approved vendor lists, places orders for maintenance and/or repair parts.
- Complete all necessary reports and forms, including maintaining maintenance records for the plant and equipment.
- Assist in production areas of the plant as required.
- Move and handle materials as necessary.
- Understand and follow the company inventory system.
Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Construct, alter, and improvise available equipment for special requirements. Construct or specify parts, mechanisms, devices, or apparatus as necessary.
- Provide instruction, training, and guidance to employees and outside contractors, within the plant.
- Through phone consultations or in person, assists in new equipment installation, equipment repairs and/or to training for other plant locations.
- Performs other similar or associated duties as required.

Requirements
The successful candidate will have good verbal communication, the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings understand mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components in order to troubleshoot equipment repairs. The ideal candidate will offer suggestions toward the company goal of continuous improvement, focus on ergonomic and safety-centered equipment design and lead preventive maintenance efforts in the plant.
Minimum requirements include:
· Technical schooling or two or more years of hands-on industrial mechanical experience. Willing to train the right candidate with proven skills and experience in a similar role.
· Ability to work independently, diagnose problems and provide solutions through repairs, replacements and reassembly of equipment.
