Description:

The Junior Systems Engineer supports the development, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT and casino systems, both internally and on customer sites. This role involves integrating hardware and software, supporting RFID systems, resolving technical issues, and ensuring reliable IT operations for both internal teams and external clients.


Duties & Responsibilities:

System Development and Integration:

  • Design, troubleshoot, and debug software programs to support system enhancements, hardware integrations, and RFID technologies.
  • Build and maintain tools for various platforms, including operating systems, networks, and cloud solutions.
  • Collaborate with hardware teams to evaluate hardware compatibility and support RFID implementations.

System Administration and Maintenance:

  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, workstations, and IT equipment.
  • Perform system installations, upgrades, and long-term maintenance for gaming systems and hardware applications.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access in systems like Active Directory and enterprise email platforms.
  • Document and track IT issues through a ticketing system to ensure timely resolution.

Network and Security Management:

  • Monitor and maintain LAN, WAN, and wireless networks for performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues for users and devices.
  • Configure and manage firewalls, routers, and switches while ensuring system security.
  • Implement security protocols and monitor for cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.

Technical Support and Troubleshooting:

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support to resolve software, hardware, and RFID system issues.
  • Conduct hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting in lab environments to identify and resolve issues.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for advanced support or warranty repairs.

Project Support:

  • Assist in IT-related projects, including system migrations, software deployments, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Research and recommend improvements to IT systems and processes to meet evolving business needs.

Asset and Documentation Management:

  • Maintain an inventory of IT assets, including hardware, software, and licenses.
  • Draft and update organizational policies, technical documentation, and standards to improve operational efficiency.

Other Essential Duties:

  • Maintains compliance with local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with operating systems (Linux, Windows, macOS).
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), microservices, and containerized environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and tools.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Office 365, and relational database scripting (PostgreSQL preferred).
  • Expertise with RFID technologies, diagnostics tools, and system integration.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent experience in systems engineering, IT administration, network management, or technical support.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft Certified: Systems Administrator are preferred.
  • Knowledge in VMware, Microsoft Windows Servers, and PostgreSQL is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a desk or computer station.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds, such as hardware, equipment, or office supplies, with or without assistance.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring fine motor skills, such as typing, using office equipment, or operating a computer.
  • Ability to travel locally (if applicable) for customer service needs, or site visits, which may involve occasional lifting and walking.
  • Ability to participate in in-person meetings and presentations, including standing or moving about a room.
  • Must be able to work in an office environment with varying noise levels and demands.
