Position Summary
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining workplace safety programs within our boat manufacturing facility. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations while promoting a strong culture of safety throughout the organization.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced in manufacturing or industrial safety environments.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Compliance & Program Management
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards
  • Maintain required safety documentation, logs, and reports
  • Conduct regular facility safety audits and inspections
  • Monitor and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical inventories
Training & Employee Engagement
  • Lead new hire safety orientation and ongoing safety training programs
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability
  • Serve as a resource for employees regarding safety concerns
Incident Management
  • Investigate accidents, near-misses, and workplace injuries
  • Identify root causes and implement corrective actions
Manufacturing-Specific Safety Oversight
  • Monitor safe operation of forklifts, power tools, grinders, and production equipment
  • Oversee proper use of PPE (respirators, eye protection, hearing protection, etc.)
  • Ensure safe handling of fiberglass materials, resins, solvents, and adhesives
  • Evaluate ergonomics and physical safety in production areas
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of safety experience in manufacturing, industrial, or marine environments required
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards
  • Experience conducting safety audits and incident investigations
  • Ability to lead training sessions and communicate effectively at all levels
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic reporting systems
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain) preferred
Physical & Work Environment
  • Work performed in a non-climate controlled manufacturing facility
  • Regular walking of the production floor
  • Exposure to noise, dust, fiberglass materials, and industrial equipment
  • May require standing, bending, and climbing stairs throughout the day
