About this position
The Project Accountant is responsible for providing financial control, reporting, and analysis across complex, project-based industrial engineering and installation programmes. Working closely with Project Managers, Commercial teams, and Operations, this role ensures accurate cost capture, timely revenue recognition, and strong financial governance throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Establish and maintain project cost controls aligned with approved budgets and forecasts
- Track actual costs, commitments, accruals, and revenue across live projects
- Support project setup, cost coding structures, and financial governance processes
- Ensure accurate allocation of labor, materials, subcontract, and overhead costs
- Prepare monthly project financial reports including cost-to-complete, margin forecasts, and variances
- Support project managers with financial forecasting and cash flow projections
- Contribute to Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) processes in partnership with Commercial teams
- Provide timely and accurate input into month-end close and management reporting
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related field.
- Support contract-driven revenue recognition in line with company policy and project milestones

- Prepare or review client applications for payment, invoices, and supporting documentation
- Monitor billing schedules, aged receivables, and project cash flow performance
- Work with operations and commercial teams to resolve billing or payment issues
- Work closely with Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors to align financial and commercial data
- Support the financial assessment of variations, change orders, and claims
- Provide cost and margin impact analysis to support client negotiations and internal decision-making
- Assist in post-project financial close-out and lessons learned reviews
- Maintain accurate financial records within ERP and project accounting systems
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and company financial procedures
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across project finance and reporting processes
Experience, Qualifications and Key Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- 3–7+ years of experience in a Project Accounting, Management Accounting, or Project Finance role
- Experience within project-based environments such as industrial services, engineering, construction, or manufacturing installations
- Strong understanding of project cost control, forecasting, and lifecycle financial management
- Experience working with Project Managers and Commercial/Operations teams
- Proficiency in ERP and project accounting systems
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (analysis, reporting, forecasting)
- Knowledge of revenue recognition and contract-based accounting
- Understanding of CVR, cost-to-complete, and margin management principles

Clear communication skills, able to translate financial data for non-finance stakeholders
