Swiss CNC Set-Up/Operator
The Swiss CNC Set-Up/Operator produces custom precision parts by setting up jobs and operating a multi-axis CNC Swiss-Style machine. Responsible for maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records and maintaining equipment and supplies.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Set up production jobs and edit/adjust CNC programs.
- Determine tooling needs, place tooling order requests with purchasing department and make tool lists.
- Responsible for the operation of multiple machines throughout the day producing parts within required tolerances.
- Request job packets, material, and gauging for new set ups.
- Responsible for inspection of product utilizing various types of inspection equipment.
- Make offset adjustments, sharpen, change, adjust tooling, and maintain fluids.
- Adjust bar feeders for material size and part length.
- Operate, load bar feeder and measure bar stock material. Check material to ensure correct material is used per blueprint and job specifications. Knowledge of various materials and differences between each.
- Maintain equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements and maintaining a clean and safe workstation.
- Communicate with maintenance department when machine issues arise.
- Communicate with programmers, operators, supervisors, foreman, and other shifts regarding the performance of the job and machines.
- Set up machine per standard notifying supervisor if rate cannot be met.
- Verify machine cycle time to standard and adjust to meet or exceed routed standard.
- Create and/or revise set up sheets.
- Upload and download programs.
- Document in-process inspection as required.
- 1st part production run layout.
- Train personnel as required.
- Addresses issues in a positive manner.
- Performs other work-related activities as assigned by the line supervisor.
Position Requirements
- Requires visual acuity (corrected) to read directions, interpret blueprints, and to inspect precision machined parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work.
- Physical ability to work requiring continuous standing, bending, twisting, and stooping the entire shift.
- Physical strength to lift and carry up to 50lbs. frequently throughout the day.
- 3 years' experience with setup and operating CNC Swiss-Style machines (Citizen, Tornos-Deco, or Star).
- Ability to edit and adjust programs, set, and offset tools and overall knowledge of advanced CNC Swiss machine operation.
- Possess strong mathematical abilities, verbal/written communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Understanding of ISO 9001, 13485.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and GD&T.
- Ability to accurately use and read precision gauges and visual accuracy.
- Ability to produce precision work in a production environment.
- Effective time management skills.
- Advanced critical thinking skills.
- Can-do attitude.
- Starting Rate: $26 per hour. Potential higher earnings of $30+ per hour dependent on experience and skill level.
