Job Title: Upholstery Lead (working position)
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Production Floor Supervisor

Job Purpose: Directly responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the Upholstery department. Responsible for helping to meet facility goals regarding safety, quality and on-time delivery of products from one department to the next.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the daily operational duties of the department to meet production demand.
- Maintains standardized methods of operation for the Upholstery department.
- Facilitate the flow of communication up to managers and down to employees concerning matters of importance.
- Participate in the implementation of new manufacturing processes, products, and systems technology to meet operational goals.
- Coordinate the delivery and disposal of chemicals and supplies
- Work to achieve a “zero defect” in manufacturing operations keeping delinquencies at or below facility goal.
- Participate in employment-related such as hiring, training, appraising, or counseling issues as appropriate; escalate issues to the next leadership level when appropriate.
- Support all safety initiatives and maintain a high awareness of safety in the facility. Complies with all OSHA and safety procedures.
- Sets an example of positive behaviors expected from team members.
- Communicate information to employees within the department and to Upholstery leadership.
- Establish and maintain uniform methods of operation for Upholstery.
- Participate in the implementation of new manufacturing processes, products, and systems technology to meet the facility's goals
- Any other duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills/Abilities:

- Read and understand product orders to ensure proper construction.
- Ability to juggle and manage competing tasks and demands and deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.

- Able to be flexible concerning the work schedule.
- Keep the work area clean and orderly.
- Follows the instruction of the Manager/Supervisor.
Education and Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous leadership experience desirable.
- Working knowledge of all processes and procedures required to perform all functions within the department.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required
Essential:
- Leadership and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Flexible schedule.
- Ability to follow instructions of Upholstery leadership.
- Prior tacking or upholstery experience.
- Hand tool experience.
Preferred:
- Previous training experience
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature occasionally
- Must be able to bend at waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds when necessary
- This is a safety-sensitive position

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions, normal office environment or factory environment that is not climate controlled. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The factory in certain areas maintains a high fiberglass and dust environment.
Personal Protective Equipment might be required in certain areas of the factory including but not limited to safety glasses, respirator, hearing protection, gloves and protective garments.
Employees in safety-sensitive positions must report to work fit for duty and must remain fit for duty throughout their workday. To be fit for duty, the employee must not be impaired by alcohol, illicit drugs, or medication.
