SUMMARY: Oversees the entire regulation and quality assurance processes and ensures Company remains in compliance with all regulations, mitigate potential liabilities and help avoid penalties, sanctions or other legal punishment. Ensures that products requiring governmental approval have all necessary applications filed and handles all government interactions and develops procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. Assures quality products and processes by establishing and enforcing quality standards; testing materials and products. Plans and directs quality assurance policies, programs, and initiatives. Establishes a corporate quality assurance system and team that promotes customer satisfaction and that positively impacts the financial performance of the Company. Champion continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to establish an effective Quality Management System (QMS); initiate and implement quality improvement activities as appropriate to raise the performance of the company’s product lines. Educate and train employees as to their impact in the quality management system. Serve as liaison between CFC and Co - packers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead team of quality professionals and ensure teams meets mandatory requirements of the Campofresco Corp. Quality process from Feasibility through Execution as well as follows standardized work process for quality innovation.Serves as point-person regarding new business opportunity compliance reviews and regulatory developments with impact to Campofresco businesses.Provides consumer food service documentation support and maintenance, label reviews, regulatory guidance and compliance specific to new and reformulated food service product concepts, and customer support.Supports the regulatory affairs themes in establishing Campofresco Corp., as respected leaders in the regulatory environment.In support of the identification and use of quality and food safe ingredients identify/develop/implement appropriate standards, specifications, HACCP plans and Allergen requirements including storage, handling, sanitation and training.In support of the commercialization process:
Support quality systems including; Manufacturing Control Plans and supporting Quality documents associated with the use of ingredients, manufacturing and technology initiatives. Ensure regulatory and microbiological requirements testing are identified, specified, and completed, along with appropriate QC procedures.
Lead SQF certification process as SQF practitioner. Oversee the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF System (including food safety fundamentals and the food safety plan), take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System, and communicate to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance.Define/plan/execute appropriate local Quality programs to meet the short and long-term strategic needs of the business.Build, harmonize, and maintain Quality programs to improve processes, drive productivity, and reduce potential risks/issues.Monitor emerging issues and identify / deploy solutions.Maintain metrics showing status of projects, resource allocation, and results.Identify need for new regulatory policies, processes and SOPs and approve them.Provide strategic guidance for product development and planning throughout the product lifecycle.Develop regulatory strategies and update based upon regulatory changes.Anticipate regulatory obstacles and emerging issues throughout the product lifecycle and develop solutions with other members of regulatory and related teams.Keep a high level of security in all Company’s confidential information and handles confidential information with.Works cross-functionally to provide international and selective domestic regulatory guidance.Communicates cross-functionally on current and emerging international regulatory issues and opportunities and outlines potential impact on products and product technology and recommends mitigation activities, as required.Provides tactical supports for the regulatory team through flavor reviews, new material ingredient spec, regulatory screenings and regulatory point on the acquisition teams related to ingredient reviews, as needed.Ensures the development and implementation of programs and systems to improve efficiencies, speed and quality of documentation support, regulatory processes and compliance efforts in support of departmental and business unit goals and objectives.Establishes quality and reliability standards by studying product and consumer requirements with other members of management and with production operators, technicians, and engineers.Achieves financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.Responsible for establishing quality and reliability standards by studying product and consumer requirements with other members of management and with production operators, technicians, and engineers.Establishes raw material standards by studying manufacturing and engineering requirements; conferring and negotiating with suppliers; devising testing methods and procedures.Oversees in-process product inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods; devising testing methods and procedures.Establishes standards for the disposition of finished product by devising evaluation tests, methods, and procedures.Prepares product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.Establishes rework standards by devising inspection and physical testing methods and procedures.Maintains product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and government requirements; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs and manufacturing and training methods.Establishes product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures.Maintains quality assurance staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.Completes quality assurance operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Other duties may be assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology or Quality Engineering. M.S. in a technical area or M.B.A. is preferred. Eight (8) + years demonstrated leadership in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing and/or R&D positions. Experience with packaging systems including PET/plastic bottles, aluminum/steel cans, glass, and aseptic package forms.SQF Practitioner CertificationCertification in Quality Engineering or Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus.
