Restaurant and Bar Manager

The Restaurant & Bar Manager supports the Assistant General Manager and General Manager in daily restaurant and bar operations. This role supervises hourly employees during assigned shifts, ensures consistent service standards, and maintains a warm, engaging environment for guests and team members. 

Daily Operations & Service Leadership

• Supports opening and closing procedures, including shift checklists, side work, and financial hand-offs
• Acts as shift supervisor and ensures service standards are followed across restaurant and bar outlets
• Provides direct support on the floor by greeting guests, running food, bussing tables, making beverages, and assisting as needed
• Ensures compliance with all food safety, alcohol service, and sanitation protocols
• Maintains a clean, organized, and welcoming environment throughout service

Team Support & Training

• Assists in training new team members under the direction of the leadership team
• Provides in-the-moment coaching to support professional growth and reinforce service standards
• Helps guide team members through busy service periods with a positive, solution-focused approach
• Communicates operational needs, guest concerns, and performance issues to the AGM or GM

Operational Support

• Helps with inventory management, restocking, and supply organization
• Assists in monitoring cash handling and POS accuracy
• Supports beverage and bar operations as directed
• Works collaboratively with the kitchen and bar teams to maintain smooth service flow
• Completes assigned administrative tasks related to daily restaurant operations

Guest Experience

• Engages with guests to ensure memorable experiences that reflect Appellation’s culture
• Resolves minor guest concerns with professionalism and elevates more complex issues to leadership
• Demonstrates deep knowledge of menus, ingredients, beverage offerings, and culinary philosophy
• Supports VIP service and special events as needed

 Skills & Qualifications

 • 2–3 years of front-of-house restaurant or bar experience in an upscale environment

 • Previous supervisory or shift lead experience preferred

 • Strong communication and guest engagement skills 

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks during high-volume service 

• ServSafe Manager Food Handler certification and California RBS certification (or obtained within 30 days) 

• Familiarity with OSHA, health department regulations, and safety/sanitation standards 

• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays 

• Proficiency in POS systems and basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, email, etc.)
