The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to supporting people with disabilities in guiding them through assessments, job searches, interviews, resumes, employment, and promotions. The Employment Professional will play a key role in both seeking and maintaining employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

Employment Professional

  • Salary:       $20.23/hour
  • Job Type:  Full Time
  • Location:   La Plata

Duties Include but not limited to:

  • Identify employment opportunities with the people supported based on individualized assessment information through assessments and inventories.
  • Conducts individualized job development by speaking with employers in the community about the person's abilities and desires to obtain employment.
  • Assist participants in preparing for interviews, completing job applications, and developing job-related skills.
  • Develop positive relationships with businesses, community agencies, other departments, and outside vendors.
  • Conduct assessments to identify accommodations for each person.
  • Provide discovery, job development, follow along support and ongoing job supports to the people supported at their places of employment, including job coaching and advocacy as needed.
  • Provide transportation to and from places of employment, as needed.
  • Complete accurate and timely daily documentation of all employment services.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more
  • Clean Driving Record with 2 years driving experience
  • Experience working with disabled adults preferred
  • Associate Degree Preferred
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the participants and demands of the job.
  • DDA, LTSS and ICM experience is a plus 
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) within 6 months of hire. 
  • Successful completion of the Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) certification within 12 months of hire.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience providing employment services to people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
